Finding Items In A Huge Crowd

I am a huge coffee addict etc. I also love the Renassiance Festival. I went this Saturday with my neice and her roommate. I love all the shops where they make things there by hand out of leather, wood, bones, etc. They had huge mugs at a few shops. These are made from a thick branch with a hand forged iron handle as well. They carve and hollow the branch out making a mug then they cook the wood then a few coats of varnish for shine and sealing the wood. Then the handle is screwed on. Well they wanted over $50 for most of these and I can't afford that. At the final drum dance in the crowd of 30,000+ people I kicked something. Bending down I found the mug I wanted badly. I held it up stating loudly to my neice and her roommate, "Look at what I found. I wonder who lost this?" I said this a few times in a 15 minute span. Noone declared it near us so I ended up keeping it. I sort of feel guilty for this action but I did let others near me I found it. Noone said it was their's so I keopt it like a lost and found deal. Have you ever done something in this manner as well? Did you have guilt really bad? Mine lasted a half hour then I was like, "Wooo Hooo! I got my mug for free this year!"

Thought number one: I'm jealous that you got to go to a Renaissance Festival and I didn't. Hmph.
Thought number two: I love watching crafters make their wares.
Thought number three: Karma smiled on you! I LOVE the mug!
Thought number four: I'm still jealous.

Well Grandpa Bob, You didn't steal it and you tried to
return it. You didn't try to hide it so I think that someone
left it there and it was meant for you to find it! How
could someone lose something that large? So it is now yours to
enjoy and remember that day fondly! Can you take a photo and let
us see this new found mug? I hope you enjoy it and have very
fond memories of the festival!

My guess is they were drunk.
They wanted to dance to the drum music.
They set it down.
In the process iof dancing they moved away from it.
Leaving it for me maybe? Hee hee.
Thanks also.

Congratulations for finding the mug. You should not feel guilty at all, you did holler in the crowd you were in and if they had lost it or wanted it then they would have claimed it. Hmmmm, wonder if you niece's friend had anythiing to do with it? hahaha I can't remember being lucky finding something like that which is of any value.

Thanks.
yes I did let others near me know I found it.
So I feel better at least a little for doing so.
I don't think he did.
He would have just bought it telling me he did.

hi Grandpa Bob yep I found onehundred and fifty dollars just sitting atop the toilet in the womens room at my University whenm I went back in my fifties to get my BA at last. I asked at the deans office if anyone had reported missing any money, and she said no indeed, I asked at several other places, then I went home and used the money to buy my books and my bus pass for amonth and did not feel guilty any longer as it took all I had to go back and this did help really much.

Good deal.
I recall years ago walking into the doorway of the casino near me. before getting to the second set of doors I saw a Hundred Dollar bill lying there. I looked at the gaurd and he said it isn't mine. It had been there a few minutes. So I asked him all about it and the process for found bills like this, and he said it isn't on the casino gaming floor so whatever. I picked it up and left right away. $100 ahead and didnt even see a slot machine. HAHAHA!

Well at least you were trying to be honest, by letting people know you found it and giving someone a chance to claim it. Don't be guilty for keeping it, hey you got your mug you wanted..lol. Have a good day

I am really amazed that no-one laid claim to that mug. $ 50.00 is a lot of money to just throw away. Too bad that they didn't hear ya. I know that they will be missing it,, and maybe thinking that someone stold it...
But sense no one responded.. Nice mug you have there, can you really drink out of it,, or will the HOT coffee taste a bit like the Varnish?

Thanks. I tried to see if someone around me lost it.
yes I drank out of it today.
It had some water in it when I found it on the ground as well.
Lots of people had them filled with beverages there all day long as well.
I have not tried coffee in it yet though. Tomorrow I will.

Thanks.
The only thing is with the iron handle it is not microwaveable.
So if I use it for coffee I can only fill it about half way so it stays hot for me. HAHAHAHA!

They say that God works in mysterious ways Grandpa Bob. I believe that it is okey for you to keep the mug because you exerted efforts already to return it to whoever owned it but to no avail. I was told by my values education teacher years ago that 'finder is the keeper' applies if no one claims the item or the owner isn't found or located despite efforts to return it. So no need to be guilty. I believe that mug is really meant for you.

Wow first of all even though those mugs are rather unique and handmade can't believe they go for $50....but hehee..what a great deal you wound up getting one anyway at a great price...FREE..Nope can't say I found something like that...on occasion though maybe in a supermarket I might find some cute cuddly stuffed toy animal some kind must have lost...and awwwwww....I feel bad that it was forgotten and abandoned...so I'll "rescue" it to give the toy a good home..LOL...

...Gifts arrive in the strangest manor.
...My church is helping a church in South America sell coffee. They grow it as a way to fund their missions. I do not think there is anything on our website yet, but you can contact my church and ask how to buy some of Pastor Manwell's coffee. First Baptist Church of Ypsilanti, MI phone number is 734-482-7380. It will help support a very poor community and it is some very fresh, rich coffee.
...Peace be with you. =(^;^)= Della

Nope, nothing like that ever happened to me. That's a LOVELY mug! I must say, you deserve it. Not many others would hold it up and holler like you did.
Enjoy it in good health.

I can't say that anything like that has ever happened to me. I wouldn't feel guilty though. You did let those around you know that you found it and no one claimed it. Look at it this way, God knew you wanted it and provided it for you.

I have never found anything that I really wanted but I would have felt guilty for a bit but then like you, I would have talked about whatever it was that I had found and been happy about it.
