While we were out in California, we thought it was really cool to sit out and watch the hummingbirds gather on my husband's uncles feeders. He has three feeders and it seems like sometimes there were about 30 birds out there! Then his cousin told us today that they're supposed to be good luck. I'll probably pick one up tomorrow on my way home from work.

When I was at my husbands uncles taking pictures of them they were just whizzing by my head. I stayed pretty clear of them because I'm sure they could do some damage if they hit you on the way to the feeder.

Oh that's a shame that you can't put one out. I'm pretty anxious to go out this weekend and get one!

In Oklahoma we always had hummingbirds, but I seldom see them in Kansas. I do not know if feeders would have anything to attract. I get scolded constantly by the tiny little wrens.

We only just decided to get one tonight. We've never seen hummingbirds around here, but tonight we did. When we were in the Outer Banks earlier in the summer we bought a lighthouse thing with a tail on it that hangs and the wind blows it around. It twirls around and the colors change on it. Well, we had it hanging up finally and tonight a hummingbird just came right over to it. We think it was attracted by the colors and thought it might be a feeder. It was so cool that we decided to get a feeder and see what happens!

I love hummingbirds. They are amazing little birds. We had our feeder up earlier and fed them until they quit coming around. It is that time of year again and we put it back out this evening and it was not out there for 30 minutes before our first one come up to eat. So far we have had three of them come to eat. haha I am attaching a picture that I took when we had the feeder up earlier this spring.

I'm going to have to do a bit of homework on them because one thing I'm worried about is messing up their migration patterns or something. I mean if they go south for the winter, I don't want to attract them now and keep them from going. I do think it's cool that we saw one today at our house - we've never seen them in this area before (maybe this one was lost???).
