I've read this great article about laughter.
Hearty laughter, giggle, chuckle and guffaw. They are said to stimulate the "feel good" chemicals in the brain so you want to do it over and over.
Giggling tends to break down some calories and the more you do it, the more you burn.
Chuckling for 15 minutes everyday for a year could drop up 2 kilograms.
Guffaw enriches the blood with oxygen since lungs exchange much more air than the normal.
Hearty laughing has some sort of analgesic effect, it increase tolerance to pain like a pain reliever. It also causes to double over and tense all major muscle groups. It's like an exercise, or as the writer said, "inner jogging."
When laughing, small muscles squeeze our faces into a smile. It increases blood flow there it may turn a bit pinker and gives us a happy glow.
Vigorous laugh can make our tear ducts activate which reduces symptoms of stress.
Benefits! Laughter is the best medicine!
Do you giggle, chuckle, guffaw or laugh out loud a lot?
Do you know other benefits of laughing?
Have a happy day mylotters!

These studies have been going on for many years, and the results of all of them have been better health. I read on article that said a cancer patient watched reruns of the Three Stooges and other slapstick comedy for a certain period every day because they made him laugh. In addition to this he changed his diet and took many natural supplements and beat the cancer without the aid of chemo therapy.

I laugh when there's something to laugh at. I like reading jokes, and funny stories it makes me laugh.
When I reply on emails, or chat with a friend, I laugh too, just by replying to them "LOL" even I don't really do. It became a habit, that when I feel funny when we chat, I type automatically LOL. Even without really doing it.
I now imagine, if how many times I type LOL in a day. Will I reduce weight? LOL.
Well, so much for LOL.
A dermatologist once told me that if you keep on frowning or smiling or keeps on making faces, it will ruin your face. You have to have no expression at all to have a straight ironed face. Then you won't get older. I don't like what my dermatologist told me. I did not return to her. I still want to laugh, it makes my heart go younger.

I completely disagree with that dermatologist. I laugh out loud, a good, hearty laugh, that sometimes makes other people laugh too, and I'm 52 years old. You can see my picture, what do you think? Given the choice between a wrinkle free face and laughter, I'd side with you. (Bet that dermatologist is wrinkled and had a terrible time getting there.)

Good for you agent. I disagree fully with that dermatologist as well. Unreal.
Laughing does my face wonders as opposed to ruining it. Hahahaha!

Hey, i do know these effects, and i used to gigle a lot. These days, i'm feeling quite blue, as a matter of fact, from the view of losing weights, being blue can also achieve that effect, the difference is it will hurt your body rather than protect it.
Yeah, laugh is great, except that too much will leave wrinkles. But never mind, i don't care so long as i'm happy. I began to look things from the positive side and i'm getting happy everyday. Good luck

Hey! Those aren't wrinkles, they're laugh lines. They give the face character, so don't worry about laughing too much.

As much as I laugh each day I shouldn't weigh nowhere this much.
Hahahahaha!
I try to laugh each day just because it feels good.
I am also the type that enjoys making and or seeing others laugh.
The saying is, "Laughter is the best medicine."
So why not laugh daily.
I laugh at some of the oddest things to but it's cool.
Each individual finds different things funny as opposed to others.
All I know is that laughter makes me feel great about myself and life in general.

Laughing is actually a part of our warm-up exercises. And yes, besides the emotional benefits of laughing, I do believe that it helps develop the entirety of our being.

I heard there was a church somewhere in the US where after the regular service they all just start laughing and the whole congregation continues to laugh for 30 or more minutes afterward. Laughing is definitely the best medicine. Whenever I am feeling down, there is no better cure than laughter! Or even when I am not feeling down there is no reason not to laugh!

What you've posted is very, very right. Indeed laughter has lots of benefits. The Bible says in Proverbs 17:22, “A merry heart doeth good like medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones. This passage from the Bible confirms the truth in the saying you also quoted "Laughter is the best medicine". And a person who always laugh shows the merry condition of his heart and this helps him to reduce stresses in life and also great booster of immune system. It is good to have a happy disposition in life.
One great preacher A.B. Simpson says: "Joy is the great restorer and healer. Gladness of spirit will bring health to the bones and vitality to the nerves when all other tonics fail and all other sedatives cease to quiet. Are you ill? Begin to rejoice in the Lord, and your bones will flourish like an herb, and your cheeks will glow with the bloom of health and freshness. Worry, fear, distrust, care-all are poisonous! joy is balm and healing, and if you will but rejoice, God will give power. He has commanded you to be glad and rejoice, and He never fails to sustain His children in keeping His commandments. Rejoice in the Lord always, He says. This means no matter how sad, how tempted, how sick, how suffering you are, rejoice in the Lord just where you are-and begin this moment. The joy of the Lord is the strength of our body, The gladness of Jesus, the balm for our pain, His life and His fullness, our fountain of healing, His joy, our elixir for body and brain."

I laugh out loud and like it too! I am generally a happy person. I always try to smile when I'm out and about. I have a button that says... Laughter relieves stress so when the boss yells laugh! I apply that to the kids and hubby too

So there really must be something to that old saying "Laughter is the best medicine" after all. I like to listen to jokes, but when I am alone it embarrasses me to laugh out loud by myself. But I do enjoy laughing with friends.

Laughter has great health benefits. Question is how?
I have read in a magazine, about 15 years ago something about learning how to laugh, sans the jokes, or funny stories/videos. I did the exercise and it worked. Here's how:
Find a partner. Face your partner and do this together: hold your belly, then look at each other's eyes, smile...then begin to say "Ha!", then followed by another "ha, ha." Say the "Ha" as you exhale, but say it slowly like "haaaaa..." Just try to keep on doing it, looking at your partner, and don't stop saying "haaaa...haaaa..haaaa" until you laugh.
It might work for you. It worked for me.
Happiness to you!!!

Yea I heard in some countries there are organizations that lead everyone to laugh out loud for 5 whole minutes.
It seems that the people that participate in this tend to be happier and may even live longer. Don't know if it is true or not, but that's what I heard.
Thanks for posting this!
