Well, friends, imagine you are well-off (have enough money to stop wokring every day) - what would you do in your life with this free time? As for me I would give my time for learning music and playing guitar, doing some sports, travelling together with people I love, reading philosophy and Holy Books. Yes, you may say that it's all possible now too, but time I can spend for these things is just what rests from doing my work...sad. So, what's about you?

Hello Smiling Cat and welcome to MyLot. I guess you have just joined here. For me I guess it will be very hard to stay idle for a week or two to rest and just sleep. I shall be helping the poor and will do something like open an orphanage or an old home so that I can do something for the people who are in desperate need. Besides helping poor, I"ll set up some factory so that my country progresses and exports that thing which I am producing. While exporting, there will be many jobs available in the factory thus reducing the people who are without jobs. I love sports of cricket and formula 1 racing. I will be watching them.

ALthough I find it like a pipe dream, I still can dream. But for the things I really want to do, like read the Bible in it's entirety, as well as listen to the scriptures on tape; visit those who are not doing so well and show some love and encouragement; travelling, reading, etc, etc.

Well I would certainly stop stressing about money for one! lol. I would ultimately live my life with unlimited adventures and go wherever I wished and do whatever I wished as well. Having money gives you far more choices in life and it would be great to be able to do whatever we wanted without having to be concerned if we could afford it or not. I would still need to work in some way though toherwise I would go crazy!

Yes, James, I agree that some work is necessary, but it's much nicer when work coincides with hobby or something you are keen on. Work for survival is sad of course.

hi dear smilingcat work never ends. the roles change. now it may be youare thinking of making money. but when you have money you will start thinking of making money with money , investing it in ventures and things like that. do you think the richest people on earth have stopped working?their work culture becomes different.they employ people to work for them , to think for them and make more money!!

juhi06, first thank you for you answer. And then I should say that for me there is an "enough point" concerning money, when I can stop thinking about making more money. I cannot for the moment give a presise number :-) but I can describe: family house and necessary home appliances, possibility to travel with familiy and friends, all daily needs supply, a car, equipment for doing sports, necessary start up funds for my two children, hobby eqipment (photocameras, laptop, music instruments and related things). So, then I should stress that I do not need luxuries and do not support overconsumption. What I believe overconsumption? Well, let me give an example. Car which fits a family, is comfortable in use, fuel-saving, about middle market price - is normal consumption. A big offroad car used mostly in a city, fuel-consuming, priced double or so to previous example - is overconsumption. Change a cell phone every three month - is oveconsumption. Replace thing which still serving you well - is overconsumption. I hope it's clear. So if I use middle priced products and service, use them while they serve well, all needs numbered above can be shown in certain amount of money. And it isn't going to be billions, I believe. And finally, as one guy I respect said "It's good when you have money, but it's bad when money has you".

I will not stop working. I want to still be human enough to work in my own Multinational Company. Provide more jobs to people. Set monthly budgets for charitable organizations, build a foundation, and just keep on giving to those in need. Of course, i will also enjoy life to the best that i can, with my family. Travel around the world, send my children to the best schools in the world, continue to write, paint, cook, sing, dance, and pamper myself everyday so i can also pamper well the people that i love. Oh it's so nice to dream. If only... Choose to be happy, now. Cheers!

I would go for shopping... And yes a holiday trip tops my list!! I would take up some more of art classes like portrait making. Photography has become something that I really enjoy!! I would learn some more of it. These things may sound very small but they actually consume a lot of time .. so besides them I go to work... And yes I forgot to say a nice full spa treatment... will be awesome!! Swimming is my favorite pass time of mine .. I just love swimming!!

Maybe I'll just travel around the world, give free magic shows and teach those who are really interested in magic. If I am really well off I might just start giving money too to random deserving strangers and ask them to pay it forward so at least the world would be a better place.

I would use that free time spending it with my family! My siblings & the rest of the clan live quite a distance from me, so trying to save up money for gas to get there and back without having to hitchhike is always a major financial decision these days. So, definitely, my time would be spent on family & staying physically and emotionally connected to those that have that special place in my heart!

I'd feel better about the future, help my family weather this economy...take to the road (camping along the way and on my scooter). And put that money to use helping people...like donating to the Salvation Army, food banks, andgiving money to start up alternative fuels. ...even if, in this hypothetical scenario, I didn't have to work...it's likely I would anyway. I'm not content -not- working or doing much of anything. But the freedom it'd give would be pretty nice.

That would be a great I guess. If I am well off, I would really love to travel around and see new places at my expense. I would also like to treat my friends from time to time. And I would stroll and shop with the latest clothes and many more. That's a very impudent answer though.
