Getting back into your old routine...

I'm in my second year of college and getting back to college has proven to be a difficult task for me. Not because I don't understand the literature, not that I don't have any good friends or dull teachers; all is great! So what's the deal? I've been working fulltime the last weeks of summer vacation and those are long days aswell but so very different. I wouldn't have to study literature when I came home at 6 pm tops (just in time for dinner), now I have schooldays till 4 pm or even 6 pm and it's 45 min to an hour travel to get home. This means I will sometimes miss dinner with my family or they have to totally adjust to my schedule which would be a little over the top too I guess. The days are just so long. I wake up at 7 every day or earlier and do my homework or get to school depending on how late classes start. Get home, eat, make some more homework and go to bed. The last two days have been exhausting. I am taking the night of now, I have all my homework ready and I need a break... Learning to take a break was one of my goals as I tend to get stressed out and do to much, I will not touch a book all night! I'll eat ice cream and watch tv, yay! And it's a goal for me to do so, imagine... , I have a heard time letting go because I want to get everything just right.... So if you don't hear a lot from me it's because college has started! Did you have a hard time getting back into your routine? How did you manage homework in college or stuff you take home from work?

Hello there my friend. Its only because you've been on a long vacation that your body now seems to have trouble adjusting to your new routine. Just give it time and things will fall into places soon. Just bear in mind that whatever sacrifice you're giving today, the amount of benefit that you'll reap tomorrow will all be worth it. Keep up the good work, and just try to keep everything in balance. As they say, all work and no play will make you a dull girl...now, we certainly don't want that to happen, do we???

Thank you so much, I think you are absolutely right! I had trouble last year because I did too much in college and lost pretty much all of my social live, teachers actually warned me to take a step back and so I am trying to do so now. Thanks for the lovely response!

Hi Cyberfluf, I am not at college but also had the holidays off and went back to work myself yesterday and am feeling extremely tired too so I know where you are coming from on this. I need to get back into a routine myself also but at the same time allow some me time too. Emjoy your relaxing evening tonight and we will catch up when you are able. Your work and studies are more important and we understand that. Huggeles. Ellie :D

Thanks Ellie . I've been able to stay clear from books till now, I did write some things down in my diary to plan stuff and keep myself on track. I am still ahead on things and I like it that way so I don't get behind if I get sick or something. Being one step ahead gives me peace of mind and allows me to pay attention to literature that we need to study outside the regular homework. Otherwise that creeps up on you at the end of the semester and that's not nice.. ouch! Good luck with restarting your job. Just curious, I never asked about your employment before, what kind of job do you have? .

If you had read the discussion you would have read the following: "I wake up at 7 every day or earlier and do my homework or get to school depending on how late classes start. Get home, eat, make some more homework and go to bed. The last two days have been exhausting. I am taking the night of now, I have all my homework ready and I need a break..." I see no use in working myself into a nervous breakdown, especially not if I have everything ready. And please; don't use slang if you are trying to be smart about college things .
