Is this really a true to life movie?

Well if this is real...life is really unpredictable and I really admire the person played by Will Smith. As the story says never give up on your dreams and never ever believe anybody telling you that you can't do it. It just have to take a lot of hardwork and perseverance, not that easy but is fruitful in the end. I just wonder what happened to his wife after...does anybody know?

I love the movie The Pursuit of Happiness because it touched my heart. I love the movie because Will Smith played the role given to him very good and that he is a great actor. The story teaches us how to become strong to face an unpredictable situation. I admire the one who created the story because he/she was able to tell us to how to value life and to persevere in order to get a job. It teaches us to be patient and never give up if we fall. Get up and try again. The story is really, absolutely good!

yup .. "the pursuit of happyness" is based on real life of christopher Gardner who is a selfmade millionaire and entrepreneur.. he is the CEO of his own stockbrokerage firm "Gardner Rich and Co.".. thou the movie took some liberties with Gardner true life story ..,its an awesome movie and it teaches a lot to us . a must watch for evryone for sure .. :) and bout his wife ..

It was definitely based on a true story. At the end it tells you what he went on to do.
I have no idea what happened to his wife, and I doubt it had any significance to the story, or maybe they were protecting her privacy, since they didn't paint her in a very good light in the movie.

Yes, the character played by Will Smith is real. His name is Chris Gardner. The real Chris Gardner makes a cameo at the end of the movie. You can find more about him on wikipedia or other sources.
