your head???
Working in the supermarket today and a customer asks me if 'we have any marathons?' I replied with a confused (very confused) look on my face 'No' he then realised what he had asked for and is thinking and then realises what he meant to ask for is snickers!!!! As soon as he said Snickers I realised what he was talking about and remembered that years ago they were called Marathons!!
This did make me chuckle and had to tell the story to a colleague and she was then reminiscing about other sweets that have since changed their names such as Starbursts which were 'Opal Fruits' which I think is a much better name for them!!
Can you remember any sweets tht have since changerd their name??

That wasnt what I meant but Im sure you are very wise!! I suppose its what you are used to, I dont see why the company even changed the name. I prefer Marathon,, makes it sounds like its energetic unlike Snickers!!

I knew as soon as I read the title what you meant, how funny! I remember them being called marathons, a much better name than snickers I think! Oh yes I remember Opal fruits too, remember the catchphrase? "Opal fruits made to make your mouth water". I think that they were better as opal fruits, starburst just does not have the same ring. In fact they do not even taste the same anymore either, they are horrible yet they used to be one of my faves, especially the orange and the strawberry!

I'm showing my infancy here, but I never knew that Snickers used to be Marathons, and Starbursts were Opal fruits. My sister and I were having a similar conversation about certain landmarks in our town though. We were saying that it shows how long a person has been in Cincinnati by what they call them. For example, our electric company, Duke Energy, used to be called Cinergy until just a year or two ago, so when someone refers to it as Cinergy, we know they have been hee a little while. What really sets it off is if they call it by the original name, CG&E. That let's people who have been here know they have lived in Cincinnati for at least two decades!!!

As they say, you learn something new every day!! Its surprising how company/products change their names. At least you can guess how long the people have lived in Cincinnati for when they talk about their electric supplier!! lol

There are lots of chocolate bars which you just don't see any more. Do you remember the Secret? It was like woven strands of chocolate with a mouse type centre.
Then there was the Wispa. They tried to bring it back recently, but it seems to have disappeared again.
They have changed the packets of Smarties as well. Now they are in a haxagonal tube instead of a round one. Wonder which marketing bod got paid a fortune for coming up with that innovative idea!
What about when chocolate bars used to be bigger than they are now. A king size mars is about the size that a regular bar used to be. Or maybe it just seemed that way when I was a kid.
I also used to like the wrappings for Dairy Milks, with the lovely dark purple foil, but they have changed that too.
Bring back the good old days, with our super-size Mars, our Marathons and our Opal Fruits!

Wow you have noticed some differeneces!!!
Oh I love Wispa bars and yes they did release them recently!!!! packs of smarties have chaned shape and also they stopped doing the blue smarties for a while, they have just started again with the blue one minus the artificial colouring and flavouring! I think the bars did use to be bigger than what they are now.
