Has anyone ever had an ectopic pregnancy? I was wondering how common these are?

I had one 5 months ago i started cramping like menstural cramp from the first day i spotted (before missed period) until my tube ruptured. I spotted on and off throughout pregnancy and my symptoms were bad then would go away then they would come back a week later and dissapear again. I knew something was wrong. I was 5 months i think. Plus my HCG levels werent doubling. I went to the Er for a week long spotting got sent home and then 2 days later my tube ruptured right after i took my prenatal vitamin. Intenese pain in my abdomin it felt like i had a damaged or extremely pinched nerve in my intestines (i thought thats what it was) if i went to the bathroom it would be a slight relief. Then then that night it turned into a pain that shot through my back and up my right side and shoulder (electrical shock feeling) then was gone the next day. I felt bloated and this ache whithin my stomache and abdomin. 4 days later my stomache was HARD and swollen and the pain came back it hurt worse when pushing on it. I went to the ER and went into shock, my right tube had bursted and i had been internally bleeding, had a blood transufion. norm for blood is at level 12-14 mine was only 5 and the transfusion only brought me to 7 so i was pretty ill. They say its not but it can happen to anyone! I knew a girl who had 2 in a row then 3 miscarries and 2 healthy children so it depends on you. Im 2 months pregnant now yay!

Oh my gosh, what terrible experience for you! If you were 5 months pregnant when it happened did you have any ultrasounds before that time that could have told you that it was happening? I thought the ultrasound would show that right away. It's great news that you are pregnant now and I hope everything goes well for you! I am also pregnant, only 6 weeks so far. Take Care.

I've never been pregnant, so obviously I've never had one. I don't know of anyone personally who has had one, but I do hear a lot about it. I don't know exactly how common it is, but from what I hear, I don't think it's extremely rare either.
