Saudi Arabians Back Obama

Do you think the following article will help or hinder O-no-bama's run for the presidency?
Saudi Arabians, including expatriates, are hoping for a victory by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama in the November election, according to Arab News.
According to the News, which claims to be the Arab world's leading English-language daily newspaper, the reasons for Saudi support of Obama range from him being black to his middle name Hussein, which has led many Saudis to believe he is a Muslim.
Obama’s father was a Muslim, but the candidate is Christian.
The newspaper quoted Pakistani expatriate Mohammed Yousuf as saying, "Some believed Obama is a Muslim because of his middle name. All the blacks so far in power at various levels have shown their commitment and determination to serve the country and the world without discrimination of color and religion.
“However, the track record of whites has been to side with Israel rather than with Muslim countries. We now have a ray of hope in Obama." Ali Alarabi, writing for the London-based Alarab Web site, has written that Arab and Muslim Americans should vote for Obama.
He said initial support for Obama waned after he made several public moves to distance himself from Muslims and chose as his running mate Joe Biden, a non-Jew who has defined himself as a "Zionist."
But Obama still maintains a wide appeal among Muslims because his father was a Kenyan Muslim, the Israeli news source Arutz Sheva disclosed.
In Israel, Hamas leaders said several weeks ago they hope Obama wins, and Arutz Sheva reported that a group of pro-Obama students in Gaza is conducting a telephone
campaign aimed at American voters.

People have worked hard to convince Americans that Obama is not a muslim. If a portion of the voters see him as muslim and base their vote on that, then practicallly speaking we must acknowledge that he is to some extent Muslim. Muslim does not equal President of the United States.

I am just hoping they have worked too hard and it results in the opposte of what they were trying to achieve.

Whiteheather,
First, you and most everyone here on MyLot know where I stand as far as BHO is concerned. Given the world circumstances and how much we, the US, are being screwed by the oil cartels, (yes I believe they are screwing us)the fact that they support BHO should be reason enough to not vote for him! We have to have a strong leader who will not buckle to intimidation by the Arab nations and BHO is just NOT that man!

rodney as usual you are correct. Whoever gave gave O-no-bama the title "empty suit" sure came up with a great description. Now we have to wait and see what will fill that suit and I for one do not think it bodes well for our country.

Man, people get so angry when other people "trash-talk" about Palin, but look at you people, you are all doing the same to Obama.
First of all, the man is a Christian, how many freakin' times does he have to say this? His mother was White and his father was Kenyan.
Second, he goes to church on Sundays. He was raised by White grandparents.
Last, does it matter if he has Muslim blood in him. I have Jewish blood in me, and you do not hear me bragging about it or turning it into an issue, so quit making his race and where his family comes from an issue. If you do not like Obama then do not vote for him in November's election. I am voting for Obama because I believe that this man truly wants change, and I do not want the warmonger (McCain) in the White House.

Trash talk I do not think so! Read his own words!
From Dreams of my Father: I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.
From Audacity of hope: I will stand with the Muslims should the winds shift in an ugly direction.

He is not a Muslim, he has said in his campaign that he is a Christian and goes to a Christian church. Maybe he was saying that he identifies with his African blood? I mean heck, he is Black. That is pretty hard to deny by looking at him. But what does it matter if he is Christian or Muslim? During his whole campaign he has not shown anyone that he is a Muslim if he ever was one or is one.

Well, Saudi Arabia is going to be in for a pretty big let down. Lybia already hates him, has anyone seen Ghadaffi's rant on Obama? He was all for him until he found out he wasn't muslum. Saudi's will also be disapointed to learn Obama's stance on Israel's situation, they won't like it much.
In general there are muslum nations and people, particularly groups like hexbolah, who hopre he wins because they see him as soft and not much of a threat to their activities.

Thank you for a very informative response. I lived in Lybya for 4 years when old King Idris was in power and I am very aware of what a change Ghadaffi did to that counry!

I don't think Saudis have the appreciation of American politics that is as close to reality as we might like to think.
They have probably been told a lot of tomfoolery just to do this and try and infleuence the elections.
I wouldn't think this is something all that valid.

Hmmm...... not sure, will have to think about this one. I don't know about racism and blacks, but since the MAJORITY of LEADERS have been WHITE MEN for so long, I can see how some might want a change, but colour, race, and MIDDLE NAME alone shouldn't be one's only reason for voting for someone. I'd vote for him over McCain though, but then again I'm not an American, so I can not vote.

I personally resent non American campaigning and interference with our election. If you can't campaign here and win here then go somewhere else. This just reinforces the feeling that we are being manipulated into a very compromising situation.

THANK YOU! I agree and it is so obvious that whatever their reasons they are certainly will not benefit the USA!
