I wouldn't go as far as saying its a woman's job to lose weight as long as she isn't obese. Whether you are a man or a woman, if you are obese or near obesity its your job to lose weight because its just not right nor is it healthy. Though you are correct that its becoming popular nowadays to be thin, in my opinion this is not right. Being healthy doesn't mean you have to be thin right? You just need to have a balanced weight proportional to your height and that for me is the right perspective to look at weight. As always moderation is the key to a healthy life.

You maybe right that a man can't understand a woman's thought, but it doesn't stop us from knowing it. Our differences make us more compatible if you ask me. Well I don't know how thin you are, but as long as you won't be as thin as flesh and bones then I'd support you all the way. As long as you won't hurt yourself or anyone close to you I guess being thin is alright. But I assure you won't find me looking skinny because I love to eat.

If losing weight is a woman's duty, then I am not a woman. I never try to lose weight and I never will.I think there is too much pressure on young women to look a certain way and be a certain weight. I was that weight and I never tried to be. So I guess I am out.

Ha ha , it is just a slogan of weight loss center, but it is a fashion to lose weight .DO you know Tang Dynasty in Chinese history ? At that time ,as a woman the fatter the more beautiful she was .Of course ,this aesthetic standard has changed.we are now in 21 century.thanks for your response.

And until the 19th century, the fatter you were, the money you had. If you were skinny, you must have been very poor.

Hi Tianli, I'm curious - why is losing weight a woman's duty?
Well, I had been very plump during my high school years; I was about 15-16 years old. And my best friend was making fun of me - that really hurt! So I went on a diet - read up everything about calories and stuff like that, and limited my food intake to xx calories per day. That diet plus the stress of studying for exams really worked - I lost a lot of weight. Looking back, it was rather silly!
Now I'm not able to put on much weight, as I've a stressful working life. On the other hand, it means I can eat without worrying about calories!

if you compare the people from the time when food industries and modern technology didn't exist, then you'd say that at the time there needn't be any diet or any nutrition doctor. But today, food has been over processed and over production has been the crisis...so food is easy to get to today, and in the foods there are alot of additives, which are toxins too destroying the human cells, as well as confusing the body altogether. Diet doctors will only be necessary cos there are alot of eat out places, and addiction is a sophistication not human nature. Therefore the increase of food production and easy access to it causes people to become unhelpfully fat and will only go on a diet as an excuse.
Television is another reason why people go ondiets, television has indirectly influenced women's thinking, seeing hot babes on movies, and seeing diet adverts, which makes normal people shy away.

I'm going to major in international economics( love social sciences)...so basically study people, food, clothing, the different countries, most of all, why and how people survive. it's more of a business subject. so it's a broad topic. I hope i am not exaggerating though. I did biology till the end of school.
