Do you have more energy when they aren't home?

My kids left for school about an hour and a half ago. Today is their first day back. I now only have the little 2 at home. So far I've already done a load of laundry, including the baby's car seat cover, as well as taking care of the little ones and getting the baby down for a nap. I've just made a list of many other things I want to get done today, and oddly enough I feel like I actually have the energy to do it. What's funny is that I didn't sleep much at all last night. I had trouble falling asleep, and the baby woke me up at 4am. I managed to get in about 2 hours before I had to get up with the rest of the kids. So why is it that after so little sleep I seem to have so much energy? I guess I'm just really excited that it's the first day of school.

The first day back at school I always seem to be full of energy, the night before mine went back my two year old had a REALLy bad night. I managed to get up and be full of energy all day long. They are on their second day back now and I am still full of energy, I reckon it will all wear off sometime next week and I will be back to feeling shattered all the time!

That's just how I felt. I didn't sleep at all, but I cleaned my whole house today, and went out for a treat. Now my oldest is home from school, but back out playing, and the twins are due home any minute. Now I find myself starting to feel tired. Luckily the evening will go by quick. I will start making dinner in an hour, then it is time for baths and bed.

I think it's because you are so used to having more children at home and having to contend to all of them over the summer. Now some of them are gone to school so instead of contending with 4 (or how ever many you have) children, you now only have to contend with 2! It makes you have the energy because before your energy was focused on all the kids and now you only have half to focus on. You still have the other half of your energy to do what YOU need to do now. It's great when the kids go back to school! Less stress and more time to get the house work done! Hope your kids have a good day.

Yes that's so true. I'm not wasting my energy by yelling at them all day, lol. They fight with each other something fierce, it gets so tiring. BTW, I have 5 kids total.

Those ages aren't bad at all. My oldest is 11, but I also have a couple 5 year olds, a 2 year old, and an 8 month old. There's almost always someone under foot.

So far I have no kids so I don't know how it feels when your child wakes you 4 A.M in the morning. I sometimes have felt that I have no more energy to finish my tasks which I pre-assign one day before. I make a list of work to be completed in one day, a day before in my mind and try my level best to complete them.

i know kids can drain out the energy in you especially when you have two or more young ones, and considering that you woke up at 4a.m to watch over the small one then i must say bravo to you for feeling energized, mine i only feel free to do things, like work on mylot, when they are outside or when they are in school otherwise the rest of the time am completely occupied

It depends. My energy is where it wants to be. Because I have recently had surgery, my energy is still not where it should be, but it is slowly getting back to normal.

I too had more energy once school started and I have 5 living here and 3 at home during the day still. I still got more things done and Im loving it. Like you not alots of sleep but it didnt seem to matter. I hope it keeps up!! LOL! I have a list of things Id like to accomplish in time. Maybe it is .. well I was going to say not having to clean as much but in my case that is wrong. My 20 month old gets into everything....lol Well whatever it is I hope that it lasts!

My kids have gone back to school since June. In the beginning, it was difficult for me to re-adjust. I was easily worn out and always felt that I needed more sleep. I have always been skinny, and I seemed to lose more weight. I guess that was because I got so used to waking up whatever time we wanted to get up during the summer vacation. I started taking vitamins, and it seems to have helped a lot. Now, after 3 months, I have already gotten used to waking up early and seeing the kids go to school everyday. In fact, I enjoy going about all my activities everyday, and I've put on some weight!

Well, that is right. More energy when they are not home. I have a son still at home, he is 17, he suffer from ADHD and AUTISM. However, it does not show, before you spend time with him or when he is at school. I need energy for a lot of things. More than others perhaps, I am also single divorced mother so I need more energy than others. I am taking my time when he is not home, I try to do thins only for me when he is not home. It is necessery to cope to get your energy from your own time. I also work full time so......my time is really important. It gives me all the energy I need. But, I love what I am doing, that is also a big issue, if you do not like being a mother, full time worker....you have less energy

I have not had much energy at all lately whether the kids are around or not. I am constantly tired. I always have a big long list of things that I need to get done, but I hardly ever end up making a dent in it.

When kids are around I am so energetic. But when they are not around, i feel the physical tiredness. So I take a really good rest to energize myself.

I guess people give us energy. Our loved ones motivates us in ways sleep and food can't. And when we are excited about something, we tend to be more energetic. That is also the case when I am excited about something I would have with my girlfriend. Good luck to your kids. Have a nice day!

When ever a new activity is started at home or at a work place people are more energetic because they want to accomplish the project they have now started. It happens with every one.

I tend to be lazy at home, I can go out to other peoples places and help them in the garden and do things for them and my own garden is a mess, I just like to relax at home and be on the computer.

I dont know if i necessarily have more energy but I certainly have tons more motivation when the kids are at school..LOL When they're here I seem to get absolutely nothing done truth be told but when they are in school I'm quick at getting everything needed done in good time....
