In my home country there are rats, mice, hamsters and gerbils for sale in pet shops. I liked to have gerbils when I was a teenager. I enjoyed seeing them dig in the sand and earth, bury into their bed. They stood up on their hind legs sometimes. I love gerbils most of all and I think hamsters are really cute. I think rats and intelligent and loving if they are tame. Mice can be really sweet. Do you like pet rodents? Have you ever had a pet mouse, rat, hamster or gerbils?

I do like pet rodents! My youngest daughter used to have two rats when she was living at home - they were absolutely adorable, and would curl up on our laps and were very affectionate and extremely intelligent. They were also very clean in their habits. We had mice earlier on, but even though they were cleaned out every day, they did tend to smell - especially after they had babies and there were too many in the cage at once. I think rats are brilliant pets - it's a shame they only have a lifespan of about three years.

We used to have hamsters before but they quickly mated and gave birth to a lot of baby hamsters. Unfortunately, rodents are a weird lot. It didn't take a week before the mothers ate some of their babies. It was really creepy so we decided to get rid of the entire family. I just can't stand the cannibalism. Who knows what they might do next? If they can eat their own babies then maybe the next time I stick my hand inside the cage they'll eat me!

mother rodents are known to eat their young if they are stressed, or living in inadequate conditions.

I have never actually seen a hamster or a gerbil before but I did use to have a pet rat named Ralph and he was the best! My Grandmother loved him too and used to do her gardening with him sitting on her shoulder. I am not overly keen on mice as pets because they tend to smell a bit pretty quickly if you are not vigilant with theri cage cleaning every day. I also used to own a Guinea Pig which actually come under the rodent genus as well. I am not sure if many people realize this but they are classified as "Cavia Rodentia".

When I was young we had pet hamsters. I've also had pet rabbits. I love rabbits. Hamsters are an ok pet. I would not want a rat or mouse for a pet but gerbils are really cute and would be a neat pet to have. They make really funny noises and are usually very skiddish. Oh another pet that I think would be considered a rodent to is a chincilla. I would love to have a chincilla they are so cute. I love how they like to bury themselves in things. I love their little tails.

Yeah. Pet rodents are really cute. I once had a hamster. He was a male dwarf winter white. I love him so much. Sniffy was really cute at times. When I call his name, he would poke his pinkish nose out of his " bed " to see who's calling him. Then he would start sniffing everything in his way. I would put my hands into the cage and he would jump into them immediately. Sometimes he also fall asleep in my hands because I pat him too much! I just love that adorable look on his face when he is sleeping. His paws twitch too! I bet he's dreaming about running in his hamster ball. He loves that ball. He lived to four years and passed away in his sleep one night. I grow so attached to these little mammals that I would cry when they have to go. The best thing I can do is to assure myself I had done my best of taking care of this hamster. Happy mylotting !

As a child my mum would never let me have a rodent, I loved gerbils, but we had a dog instead. It wasn't until I was in my twenties that I finally got two gerbils that I could call my own, I called them Robbie and Jake! My ex looked after them but one day my ex was cleaning them out and hadn't properly secured the cage that held them in and Robbie escaped we never did find him. I was angry at my ex for not looking after them properly. Sadly when I split from my ex and I moved back home to my parents my mum didn't want Jake so I had no alternative but to leave him with my ex to look after never saw him again the gerbil that is!

I have two pet rats, and they're wonderful. of those listed, rats are definitely the tamest, and most affectionate and intelligent (I've had rats, hamsters, and handled gerbils a lot) Rats make amazing pets, as they're intelligent, affectionate, trainable and sociable.

I do like pet rodents. I had a hamster when I was young, although I think he thought he was a very small dog lol He would eat just about anything I gave him, he loved scrabbled eggs, sausage, but his favorite was pancakes with syrup. He lived to be 7 or 8 years old. Normally they only live a around two years and that's old for them. I also had a pet rat a few years ago, her name was dori. The funny thing about her is I could put her on my bed, or on the couch while I was studying and she would stay there, she never tried to get down. She also had her travel bag, that she would go into and I took her on weekend trips and then when I moved 1600 miles.

My brothers and I had gerbils and mice when we were growing up. My son used to have a hamster and then a few gerbils. I don't mind them now, but I liked them a lot better when I was a kid.

I love them. I currently own a teddy bear hamster and a ferret. As a teen my brother and I each had a pet rat. The rat's were very cool and very smart. I also have had siberian dwarf hamsters as a kid but although they are very cute, they were awfully nippy.

I had a pet rat named Ben when I was younger. We thought it was a boy but at some point my mom figured out Ben was in fact a female. We all loved her. She was black with a white belly. She was extremely smart. We would build her mazes to go through all the time. I think she ranks right up there with one of my favorite pets that we had while growing up. Other people were a little freaked out by her sometimes. But she was so gentle. She never so much as nipped us.

I have a pet guinea pig. My fiance named him gizmo, but I call him pig pig. lol. He was born christmas day like my daughter. He is black and white, and kind of looks like a skunk lol. I think rodents make good pets. Its all in how you handle them, and take care of them.

Rodents are great. I had a hamster as a teen. She lived for 4 years. She even had her own bedroom so she didn't bother us one the wheel at night.

I've never been a fan of small rodents. They're just not all that entertaining to me and I can never really bond with them. Til I found Degus. : ) They're small rodents (I say rodents though I don't think they're technically rodents) and they come from Chile I believe. They're similar to chinchillas in appearance and they also take dust baths. They make sounds like guiena pigs. Annnnd I think they look like a gerbil, only bigger. Here you go. http://www.degus.com/degupics.html
