Darn burners!

I discovered on Monday that my 500 gig external drive had a whopping 20 mgs left and the internal drive had 17 gigs left so decided to burn stuff to data DVDs so I could clear the stuff off the drives to make more room.
One program - Burn4Free will let you burn 1 DVD before you have to MacGyver the program to over ride some glitch. I got one DVD burned
I tried another program - Deep Burner - it doesn't even see my DVD burner at all.
Next one I tried was CDBurnerXP4 - it sees the drive but keeps giving me an error message.
I can't use Roxio because the interface is too big. I have to use 800 or 640 resolution because of bad vision - and the interface just fills the screen.
I know it's not the burner because it DID burn the one DVD that Burn4Free allowed and that copy's fine. It's also reading DVDs beautifully. So it's gotta be the programs.
I burned a bunch of data CDs and managed to clear it to 50 gigs on both drives so I'm good for a while.
Now, I'm just looking for another DVD burning program.

so far, no good, I'm afraid. I downloaded it, but it won't let you burn data DVDs unless you pay, so Okay, I paid - well as soon as I try to burn ANYTHING, it shuts down completely. Guess it's not recognizing my drive (Mad Dog) or something. I've sent a bug report, but if we can't resolve it, I'm gonna demand my $$ back.

I have no idea what you are talking about because I cannot not understand what is all about, my husband takes care of my computer and he understand it all but I only use the computer.

Not a problem, darlin' I'm trying to burn disks and the programs I'm trying aren't working. Kinda like trying to cook pasta with cold water.
