At what age did your children start showering?
My 3 older kids, 11 yrs and 5 yr old twins, all take showers now, and have been doing so for awhile. I think my oldest was around 7 when he began showering, and the twins started to shower last year.
They are faster in the shower than in the tub, and I think they get cleaner too. Plus there is less clean up after. In the tub they splash like crazy and the floor is always soaked. In the shower there is very little water on the floor.
All in all I find it easier on myself to get them to shower instead of taking a bath, and with 5 kids, I like anything that will make our routine faster and easier.

I loved it when mine started taking showers for the same reason, less mess! I have a 6,4 and 3 year old. My youngest is my challenge and he would splash and jump around to the point where I would be so frustrated I hated giving them a bath. I started them all in the shower when my youngest was about 2 and it has been great! I also do not have to worry so much and can leave them in the shower while I get things done too. They love it, it makes them feel big.

Well my little 2 don't shower, they still bathe and will for awhile now. I'm in no rush on them.
But I do like letting the 5 year olds take showers. I turn the water on and walk away. They know to clean themselves and rinse themselves. I go in and check them over before turning off the water, then hand them a towel and they do the rest themselves. It sure does make my routine a lot easier.

My twins took their first showers when we used to go swimming at the YMCA. I have an alergy to chlorine, so I HAVE to wash the moment I get out of the pool, so I would make sure my kids did too, just in case they had my alergy. They weren't crazy about the shower then, but one night I was too tired to bathe them and let them play in the tub, so I told them they were taking a quick shower. They loved it, and since then they haven't taken another bath.

Our kids started showering when they were around ten. Before that anytime they tried to shower they came out with head full of soap or something like that and would have to be sent right back in. They finally figured out how to properly rince when they reached ten. I agree that with showering they get cleaner and there is a lot less cleanup.

We do not have a shower in our house, we only have a bath! SO it can be a pain when it comes to bathing and they always seem to need a bath! My eldest is Ok, with being 8 he thinks now that he is old enough to bath himself and so he does. No mess either, so he is good. My next one who is 6, has to have help with the cleaning as he will often leave a big tidemark on his neck! He would splash about if I let him but I dont so he does not! My two year old washes herself, very independant girls are I am finding, she likes to slide up and down the bath though causing a tidal wave which I do not find amusing AT ALL! So really I only have two that I actually have to bath.

I've been taking showers since I was four. My mom and I only had a shower in our house. Before that I went to my grandma's house (two houses down) to take a bath. I think at the age where they can talk and understand how to do things is a good age to start letting them take showers. I definitely agree with the cleaner thing. When the kids I babysit take baths i'm cleaning the bathroom for at least a hour after they go to bed. And bath toys are not fun to clean up. It entertains them but is such a pain!
