Last night I've received an obvious text message from Atty: Armando Titangco -it is the name of the person who send the text message, since it is written at the end of the message.
The content of the message is my cellphone number was drawn in a charity and was won as second prize for about PHP 950,000.00. He then want me to call him to know the details and how to get the money.
This is obviously a scam and immediately delete the message, I told to my wife
and we both laugh.
Have you been receive such message? If so, ignore it and don't waste your time and money from it.

I get that message from time to time... and i would just immediately delete them... but i always wonder how they got my number... since i don't really text a lot... and i don't just give my number to anyone i know or don't know... is it possible that the line providers has a mole who give out telepone numbers to these scammers?...

possible but we don't know.
seems this is the same with our email address
why do we received email from unknown person?
or maybe a random pick of number then send message will work
for example pick a certain phone number and change the other number only

Hi there agihcam!
Well, this kind of scam is no longer new here in our country. What is funny is that despite having been proven that such are scams, there are still people who fall prey to these scammers. Based on your story, the name itself is funny. You know why? It sounds like the name of our BSP Governor. Armando Tetangco, Jr. It's good that you did not fall prey to that scammer.

Exactly. They are always finding ways just to scam people. Now the will pretend that they know you and will said "reply me here in this number and load me load and then they will state an amount". Sometimes they will guess your name also..careful on that!

Not only through text but also emails. Its always happening. So many scams around the world. So we should always be alert and be careful if we receive those on our email addresses and cellphone for us not to be a victim.

That's the question basically, where do they found my numbers.
But I have an answer for that.
This is something like email address, why do we receive some emails from
unknown person and we did not gave our email address to them?
Seems in text messages, there is also a tracking device to get some numbers
so that they can send some information to us. Possible isn't it?

Yes. That's so creepy and sometimes makes me give in to paranoia. Best to use common sense and just try not to be impulsive about your decisions.

Hi agih,
I always received messages like that and I always deleted it but honestly one time, I wasted my one peso to reply the sender and told him that I am very rich already and I am even worrying how to spend my money (I wish, but I didn't include this phrase, LOL!)....and told him, I will just donate it to him since i know he need it badly! I was just bored and I insulted him that way! LOL!, I know there are really people who will try their luck on it even if it is obvious and it will make these people earn from those victims...

I received scam text messages before until now. I even called the person just to clarify how I am supposed to get my winning money. I was even excited that time. Upon knowing that it was just a scam, I felt so bad and betrayed. After all, if I still receive those sms, I'll just delete them directly.

It has been said and reported on newws the same strategy of those scammers and they still don't stop up to these days. I wish they will learn thier lessons and be put to jail cause more people has become thier victims.

I've received that kind of text message before. I just ignored it for I was aware of what they will ask from me. They will ask you to call them then ask for your details blah, blah, blah. Just like you, I won't waste my time and load for this kind. HUGZ!

Good day.., I have received such messages several times before and each time I texted back die scammer die. It's just funny how people try to scam people in every way they can and that they are stupid or rather evil enough in hope that they could snare an unsuspecting victim.

This email and variations of it have been around for at least three years. I got one at each of my yahoo email addresses way back. The scammer tries to get credit card information. You were smart to simply delete it. Thank you for warning others here!

So you received that text message too! I just can't imagine how come they know our cellphone numbers! I have been receiving text messages of that sort and I am starting to get annoyed. I kept on deleting them even if I've not completed reading because I know it's a scam but I keep on getting it. I'm thinking of changing my SIM card but that would cause me a lot of trouble. I would rather delete and delete and I'm sure he will get tired sooner or later.
