yesterday morning i was in a rush to make myself some toast.
i don't have a toaster at our mountain place, so i used the oven.
unfortunately, i burned the toast. all 3 slices.
ok, no problem, i put them outside for the birds. today i find the
pile is still there undisturbed.
john told me, birds don't like burnt toast. they won't eat it.
is this true ??

I have a house in the mountains also. I also put out the leftovers in the woods for the deer and other animals that come into my yard. I know they eat burnt toast. Birds for a fact will not. I love birds, I have 3 of them and they will not go near burnt toast. I tried. I think its the color of it that scares them. Next time put it out in the woods for the animals believe me they eat anything. Get yourself a toaster or toaster oven.

living in the mountains, although semi-living, is more like it
is a new adventure for me.
lots of animals to see and enjoy.
new rules, too !
no, you can't go out (even in twilight) without looking at the ground.
even if you know the deck quite well.
rascal the toad might be there to greet you.
no, best close the sliding screen door in the evening
on each and every trip as
EVERYONE comes in to say hi!
i saw the most unusual spider (which i don't even like to kill i just
broom them out) as it looked like it was on stilts it was so tall!
but, there was my thrill last winter of seeing deer tracks in the snow on my deck.
and had "knee" joints.
