Still don't think there's a liberal bias?

I think McCain had a fair amount of protection in that his history is literally an open book. Most of the smears brought against him involved issues and lies from 20 to 30 years ago. Palin however, was fresh and new so the media really threw down the gauntlet with this one. Let's take a look at how many lies and smears they've thrown at her since she was chosen as McCain's running mate just 5 days ago.
1. Her son Trig, is really her grandson and the son of Bristol. She lied to the media and all her friends and coworkers as part of a cover up. (Complete Lie)
2. Her daughter is 17 and pregnant. She's a hypocrite, a terrible mother, and an example that abstinence only doesn't work. (Smear)
3. Her husband had a DUI in 1984. (Smear)
4. She's a Nazi sympathizer who endorsed Pat Buchanan's run for the presidency. (Complete and utter bullshyt. She supported Forbes in 2000.)
5. She's a member of a radical third party that wants Alaska to secede from the United States. (Complete lie, she registered as a republican in the 80's and has never changed her party affiliation.)
6. She's knows nothing about the war or Iraq. (more lies. She's visited troops in Iraq, Kuwait, and Germany and she did it without prodding and not during a run for office)
7. Fired her sister's ex-husband because he divorced her sister. (lie, she fired Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan. He claims it was because he wouldn't fire her sister's ex-husband. Palin denies the claim. The sister's ex-husband tasered his stepson, illegally shot a moose, drank beer in his patrol car, He told others his father-in-law would “eat a f’ing lead bullet” if he helped his daughter get an attorney for the divorce. There are 13 issues in his file, but these are the only 4 he was officially found guilty of)
8. Her husband is the CEO of BP. (Lie. He was a production supervisor for 18 years but left his job when Sarah Palin was elected governor to avoid a conflict of interests. When they needed more income he went back to work as non-management production operator to continue to avoid conflicts of interest.)
9. She is in the pocket of big oil. (Lie, she raised taxes on oil profits and after creating a budget surplus, dispersed checks of $1200 to citizens to help deal with high gas prices.)
10. Her only experience is mayor of a small town of 9000 people. (Everyone knows this one's a lie since she's currently the governor of Alaska. This claim was made by Barrack Obama's own spokesman)
So it's only been five days and look at all this crap the woman and her husband have gotten. I'm sure that's not all of them, but I think it's enough to get my point across. In the unlikely event that those of you reading this still don't think the media is biased, just take a nice look at the contrast between was Us Weekly did with Obama, versus what they've done to Palin.

Thank you for laying it all out there, people just love to gossip and spread lies and such just so they can have the person they want be elected. But I think in the end all this ugliness is just going to show how strong Palin is and how wonderful a VP she would be.

I'm sure you're right. She's a strong woman and she's taking this head on. I just hate when people claim there is no liberal bias in the media. Did you know Fox News (who the liberals hate) was the only one that even mentioned the difference in the Us Weekly covers and stories?

Honestly I do not understand this vendetta against Fox News. I think they are the most balanced news station that report it all had Democrats and Republicans talk all the time. I watch CNN and MSNBC too just so I know that it's not a news station that's swaying me either way but really MSNBC especially is all about Obama, and lets not bring up this or that about him but attack Republicans. Obama's even going to be on Fox News and I will watch it. I watched the DNC. I'm not just going to watch who I made up my mind on, it's important to get the view from both sides.

Actually I'd have to say CNN has been far worse above all lately, lets us just hope that they get themselves back on tract and report the real news and everyone stop the whole how many houses thing... Do you really think a man who only makes about $400,000 a year has enough money that he owns all those houses? His wife does! I don't care how many houses he or Palin or Obama or Biden or anyone else has... if they have more houses it just means less on the market... they pay taxes too.

I have heard the lies and the truth, but I still do not support her and McCain. I have my reasons. Anyway, this is the same kind of stuff that was done to Obama when he first began running for president. People called him a Muslim, and we all know that he is not. I am not voting for her because I do not believe that she has enough experience, and I can think of other women who have more experience than she has who should be in her position. I was for Obama and Biden before I ever knew that she was going to be McCain's running mate. I am not a McCain supporter. I know what he stands for, and what his priorites are, and that is why I would rather vote for Obama than McCain.

It's called POLITICS! Politics are not always clean things can get nasty and very dirty. Do not be soft on Palin just because she is a woman. No one was soft on Obama because he is black. When people said things about Obama the lies were spread everywhere, and it will be the same with Palin. This will not be a clean election. If there is any "dirt" on any of these canidates, it is going to get spread all over the place.

I am not saying that it is right, I am just saying that this is what the media does, again, look at Obama. People have spread a lot of lies about him too, and there are people defending him just like you are defending Palin, do not think that there is not. Things like this have been going on in politics for a long time. The only reason that this is so bad, and the only reason people are taking more notice, is because Palin is a woman and Obama is Black. If Palin were a man and Obama were White, we would not be having these kinds of debates and discussions. Again, I am not saying it is right, but I am saying that this is what people do when it comes to politics. Politics are nasty, and it gets dirty. People get hurt. Obama and Palin knew the risk when they entered this election. Palin could have said no to all of this, but instead, she said yes to it. This is not going to be clean and friendly. There are people who would like it to be clean and friendly, but it will not be.

You aren't getting the point of my thread. The media wasn't propogating the lies about him being a muslim. They weren't running negative stories about him. Obviously there were some stupid chain emails going around, but that's not the media. The lies and smears about Palin are being spread through the media both online and in print.

IMO it is a damned shame and I bet they are not finished with her yet! We have all been hearing for month that Obama professes to be a Christian then how can he let the 9th Commandment to be broken over and over again! (Bible: Exodus 20:13): You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

kennyrose I am rather surprised at your comment to my response. You said "if you would do the research on who is Barack Obama then you would understand you have to personally know the history to form and intelligent opinion just like most any thing." I thought it was pretty obvious from all my postings on BO that I have researched him thoroughly and do not believe one word he says. This IS my intelligent opinion!

Well, of course he'll say that he isn't doing any of it but I don't believe him. He will appear to be innocent but who knows what goes on behind the scenes and who will do his bidding.

There definitely is a media bias. Other than the RNC NBC doesn't have anything to do with the republicans. John Kerry was all over the place and Bush was the devil. Now they treat Obama as some god and I never see any republican views. It is quite a shame because people need to see both sides. AND the viewer might be sick of the person they are promoting when it comes time to vote.

Maybe we're reading and watching different media outlets. The only places I've read those lies are in personal blogs and in comments made by readers on some of the seriously liberal pseudo-news sites. Are you reading sensationalist newspapers that are just looking for headlines?

I don't live in the US, so, I'm not a republican or democratic and I have observed smearing and nasty politics from both camps. Barack has been pummeled from the beginning, everything from his heritage, to his preacher. It's just her turn now because she just recently threw her hat into the ring. If you take away any bias you may have, and really look at the process from a objective and neutral eye, you'll see both parties have been smearing each other for quite some time. And as far as that goes, I think it's only going to get worse.

Unfortunately these things happen every election year! I really wish we could have just one big election without the mud slinging and fighting. Just debate the issues and discuss each candidate's experience and stance on the important things! LOL, but then I guess it would not be politics would it? Hang in there it will be over soon!

I think it is despicable what the media is doing to Governor Palin. But I look at it as their being scared. Oh, I do think they're afraid of her. For all their talk of being for the poor and equal rights it's just to get their votes. Let them come across a black who won't vote for them then they'll then have no use for them. Along comes a woman who can break the glass ceiling and open up an office at the top of the United States and they trash her 24/7.
Well, I hope that it backfires on them big time.

The media and Obama has done a beautiful thing; we are doing this for the best of the country! We all know that although we are fooling the ignorant Americans, they will be better off with President Obama helping to direct and manage their lives, than for them to do whatever they like!
President Obama has your best in mind, and he will win and reign supreme over our nation!
Vote Obama 2008!
