"Te quiero" means "I want you", and "Te amo" means "I love you". I do not know why the person above wrote "I want you" instead of "I love you"?

thanks rogue, sometimes there are really other certain ways of telling something which depends on the person. maybe "i want you" is also one way of saying "i love you".

german: ich libe dich
i think it translate to i love you truly
in spanish: te quiero and te amo are interchangable even though one literally means want and the other means love respectively.

it was a very long time ago that someone said this to me in german but here goes.
phonetically spelled:
(eesh leebeh deesh)
but you might want to ask someone from germany to make certain!
