Is anyone else seeing too many people around them being afflicted with cancer?

Yesterday my 38 year old brother was told that the tumor removed from his bladder recently was cancer. Now we are waiting to see if it has spread. My Aunt just had a cancerous tumor removed and is now going through chemo and radiation.
I remember when you did not hear about cancer that much and it would be about a friend of a friends relative I would hear about.
So many people are getting it from all walks of life, all types, all ages, smokers and non smokers, etc.
With all the research that has been going on for years it seems to me that it has become like an epidemic.
Is anyone else noticing this? If so, do you have an opinion as to why? And do you feel enough is being researched if it seems more people are getting cancer than ever before?
I personally think it's maybe we are all eating, drinking and using too many products that have carcinogens in them that people are not even aware of.
I would be very interested in hearing other mylotter's opinions regarding this very real and for me, very scary issue.
