I am currently taking a subject in Religion since it is required in our Christian university. What I don't like about our teacher is that he just assigned us topics to make a report as our final project.
We are required to discuss our reports and while reporting, our teacher just sits at the back and hardly listens to anyone of us. He just enjoys sending and receiving text messages to and from anyone who's in his phone book while we, students, explain our lesson. And after the report, our teacher turns off the lights and goes out of the classroom, leaving us first.
Reporting is alright for some subjects, but in Religion, where our main reference is the Bible, a teacher who is the professional suited for the job of explaining to us stories in the Bible which are hard to understand.
The thing that I hate about this matter is that our teacher is getting paid by students who discuss the lessons to their fellow students. Isn't it very ironic?

I pity you for experiencing it.
Doing reports and presenting it to the class is one of the best method a teacher could give the students to build confidence and a reality setting that in life we have to lead our lives not just to follow others in order to succeed. But t the matter you are talking about like "Religion" it really takes to have a good teacher who has a heart in "religion" or imparting the religious motives of its subject.
I don't want to judge but as a student, you just do it by yourself, don't bother to wait for the teacher's special comment. You gain by searching informations to be reported and you did your best. Life is really like that. Happy mylotting. Take care =)

Thank you so much for the "best response" mark. I appreciate being thanked. Yes, you are doing the right thing. Just do all this for yourself .. not just for reporting or to impress anybody. Knowledge gain is useful in the future. Thank you again. Take care =)

actually ever think of the fact that when you are siting as a student, did you really pay the full attention the lecturer requires? did you talk to your friends, or day-dreaming. because i does all this and i can understand how it was like. when a person is sitting in as a audience, he or she can never just sit still for a few hours straight, sane as your lecturer.
the idea of making a report and present it to your class as a lecture is in fact a way to assess how you convey and convince others to trust you. the lecturer is trying to train you for the society. but i think he seriously need a change of attitude, as he is a lecturer not a fellow student.
did he ask any questions, or share his thoughts after a lecture?
