why is it that spongebob is yellow

Haha.. yea.. When I first saw him.. haha I laughed at him.. i thought of him as a walking cheese or something.. hahaha! but one day I found myself watching him everyday. lol Actually Spongebob is a Sponge as simple as that.. lol.. why is he yellow?. well Sponges are usually yellow.. that's it.. lol Merry Lotting everyone!!! spongebob is yellow i think it is bec. just like the sun it is bright and easy to be recognized just like spongie it has to be in bright color in order to see his bright character..

I personally like the show SpongeBobSquarePants and I think that Spongebob is yellow because it makes him stand out and get noticed easily,and plus he is a very cheerful person no matter what happens,and also because I think to some extent sponges are yellow or most of them,even though I know some sponges are other colors too,but I honestly like the color they chose for him.

spongebob should be yellow as it is a bright color. as it shows his characteristic as a cheerful and bright person. actually, i cannot imagine spongebob to be in any other color. it could be based on this character of spongebob and its story plot that make it sure a appalling shows for kid. by the way i am not a kid anymore, but i love spongebob.

I have always thought he looked like cheese too! But what kind of cheese? With all those holes you would think swiss but hark! Swiss cheese is white, not yellow!
