HI friends......
Chennai is going to get world's biggest cricket stadium very soon...
it will surpass EDEN GARDENS,and MELBOURNE CRICKET STADIUM in terms of seating capacity.
It will be built in a 50 acre site in karunkuzhikuppam village ,25 kms from chennai..
Another special feature of this cricket stadium...it is likely to have RETRACTABLE roof...so that matches dont get washed out due to rain...

Wow, this i a news for me. It has been 2 years since that article came in and I didn't knew it until now. Currently, Eden Gardens is the second largest cricket ground in the world, the first being Melbourne. Any idea when the construction will be finished? 50 acre is a lot of land. I guess it translates to somewhere around 900 Grounds. Wow! I can't wait for this ground to be launched. So Chennai will be having 2 International grounds after the construction of this ground is done.

I myself heard about the project and am thrilled about it. But given the infrastructural bottle necks usually in India, it needs to be seen when it can actually materialize. Let's hope that BCCI can work around these bottlenecks and give us this stadium real fast.
Cheers!
