Apparently, my 16 year old son says it never left. How cool is that? Now I can still bang my head at 50 and not look dumb. Well . . . maybe not. How crazy is it though that my son and I are now listening to the same bands which would include, Red, Demon Hunter, Secret & Whisper, Avenge Sevenfold, Iron Maiden, Haste the Day, Metallica. Okay, enough . . . (for all my Christian friends here at MyLot: check out Red, Demon Hunter, Secret & Whisper, Haste the Day). What's your favorite genre? Rock on!! Sorry, having flashbacks.

@Hanyouyomi Oh my goodness. Good question. This was so long ago. Maybe it was because the Seattle grunge scene was invading the metal scene.

Yeah, I heard that too from both my kids. I guess not matter what they will end up also listening to same of the things that we listen to as well.
There is a period on their lives when they don't even want to consider having the same tastes in music - or anything else - but then they catch themselves doing just that and actually enjoying LOL

I guess the trick is to not comment on it. My son gets a little annoyed when I start talking about how we like the same music. He's aware of it, but I'm not sure if he likes it. Sometimes though, we do start humming the same song. It's quite endearing.

I am not into Heavy Metal, but it's cool that you and your son can share the same kind of music. I have always been into older music. I don't care if it's in or out. My parents are happy, because I like a lot of the same stuff they do, and some stuff that's even older than the stuff they like. It's pretty funny when my parents are in the mood for more modern music, and I want to listen to AM 740. haha

Hehehe, that's cool D. I'm not quite sure if we can actually catch AM anymore. Just kidding . . . there's just all talk radio on that frequency. For us anyhow. Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome day!

That's just too funny, afraid I've never been into heavy metal but do remember my oldest son and my daughter going through that stage. Personally I prefer Christian (contemporary and gospel), oldies (50 & 60s). The only time I have really had a love of music in common with my kids is when my oldest was still at home he discovered 'The Beatles' he thought it was great that I knew all the words to all their songs :)

Ah yes, but having the Lord in common is still the greatest thing of all, my friend. You rock no matter what.

I think it never gone, or never out of existence. In a nearby neighborhood across my work building there are group of metal or what they called metal hiphop, the used to make vandalism all the walls near their office (as what they used to call it). They are the ones the police suspect of harrasing some student of the place. They are also a victim of suspection regarding holdapers group in the city. In regards with your sons type of music, i listen to Iron Maiden before, and I decided I am not into metal music. Maybe he find relieve whenever he have a problem when listening to their songs.

I agree with your son heavy metal has never left. My two eldest boys are into heavy metal they just love it. i like some of it i don't mind Iron maiden or Metallica but perfer rock music.
I like some of the older bands like Queen,Meatloaf and Bon Jovi as do my children.
At the moment i am into Nickleback and Plain White T's which again are bands that my sons also like.
I have found that we all have with similar tastes and like the same sort of music.

Bon Jovi, of course, is my all-time favorite. I have to admit, it's fun rockin' out with my son. Communication is so much better. He's a little on the "um I don't know" side about Meatloaf though, lol. Have an awesome day, littleone.
