Roger Simon, writing for the Politico, states that the media should apologize to Sarah Palin for the way their have covered her political and personal life. Do you think the media owes Palin an apology? You can see the article at:

No the media shouldn't apologize to Palin. She's the one who made the decision to accept the VP nomination and put herself and her family in the national spotlight. I believe the saying is "if you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen."

I agree that they never act like it's a big deal for a man to have 5 kids and have a position of power. That being said, this is not a new argument. It's gone on since women started to work. Since the dawn of time men have been looked at as the breadwinner and provider and women have been looked upon as the ones that take care of the family. Even though some think the question is unfair, and to an extent it is, it does open up a relevent discussion. Progress is made by questions like this, and if we as women truly want to move forward we need to start proving that we are as capable as men and stop whining about "nobody would ask a man that question."

Lil Wonders, I agree completely. I hope Hillary is hearing all this rhetoric discriminatory to women. I hope she speaks out because supposedly women's rights were a big part of her platform. I wonder if she is woman enough to speak up even though Palin is on the other team.

Some of the news media are picking up on the double standard factor of men's vs. women's roles with responsibilities such as childcare and other thing society has take for granted a woman is supposed to to IN ADDITION to her career. People are starting to take a second look at that issue with Palin's nomination, so maybe it is a good thing.

She hasn't been treated differently than other 'celebrities' Everybody who puts him/herself into the spotlight nowadays just knows that they will be subjected to a media scrutiny rivaling a witch hunt. Nothing is sacred. She is just their newest victim. Scandal sells.

Point taken. Inspite of the witch hunting news media, most people have a brain of their own and will not be duped by their ranting and raving about things. They can cast Palin in any light they want but the people hopefully will be able to put their foolishness aside and decide for themselves.

Forgot to add. If they apologize to her, they have to apologize to hundreds of other people. Although warranted, it will never happen.

Is the main street media, if you can really call them that, should apologize to Gov. Sarah Palin and her family. A story like Trig is not her son but her grandson belong in the National Inquire not on MSNBC. I do not mind reporting on Palins record but reporting on the status of her pregnant daughter is just lowering the standards of CNN, if CNN standards could not get any lower. Look at US Today last month cover Why Barack Loves Her So Much, this month Babies, Lies, Scandals. Yet some still say there is no liberal biases in the media.

Some say there is are no biases in the blood-sucking media. Those who say that must be vampires themselve. Kids of political figures are supposed to be off-limits and journalists should respect that. This time they completely ignored those limits and blamed Sarah for their transgression.

I'm being totally honest when I say I never heard this reported on MSNBC and I usually have that station on just about 24/7. The first I'd heard of that very disgusting rumor being spread was right here on myLot.

I don't know that they have treated her any differently than any other politician other than as soon as McCain's selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate - they were all over every breath she or anyone in her family took. This was probably because they did not have her on THEIR short-list and hadn't had a chance to pick at her like they had the others that they thought might be chosen.

The reason I agree with the article, that she does deserve an apology from the media is the way they approached everything about her in such a negative way, to paraphrase, they were "digging up dirt" on her from the git-go and haven't stopped yet, not even leaving her youngsters off limits. I think the media is totally outclassed by Sarah Palin and they are going to be off in a courner somewhere pouting instead of apologizing when she wins the elecion.

Actually, the majority of the media should apologize to the entire nation for the way they've been deteriorating for the past several years until they became what they are now, biased platforms that support the ideologies of their owners and CEOs disguised as news. It's a shame that it's so difficult to be truly informed in this day and age.

Your absolutely right. They are taking advantage of everyone when they report lies, innuendos and skewed information. They do whatever it takes to get ratings and promote their liberal agenda , and that is not what they should be about. MSM integrity has completely disintegrated in the last few decades and they do owe us all an apology for what they are now serving up to the american people and calling it news.

The author, Roger Simons, is a good writer but if you read all that he writes he seem a bit biased. :-) I find it hard to understand that anyone would doubt a feeding frenzy. New meat for the grinder. Papers and TV didn't have anything to talk about but politics as usual. No... I don't think anyone owes Sarah an appology. I do think Sarah might owe her daughter an appology for throwing her so fully into the national spot light.

Sarah did not throw her daughter into the national spotlight. It was the liberal media who did that and they are the ones who should apologize to Bristol for invading her privacy like that. Kids are supposed to be off-limits for MSM political fishing, and they went right past those boundaries in searching for some dirt to report on Sarah.

Personally, did she not go into this expecting some Fun to be made of her knowing if she would be a Politician running for Vice President things like this happen? So they feel it is wrong as she is a woman, but no one ever thinks nothing of if they say Bad things about McCain, Obama or Biden. For me, if they owe her an apology, she needs to prove herself to get one. There are things she is always saying she is not wanting that to me are contradictory looking at things in her life as well. Just because she is a woman is why the people are complaining. If she was a man, most people would not have even noticed.

I agree with you. She has endured much more scrutiny and "dirt digging" from the MSM than they give the male candidates. This case is one of "the good ole boys club of Wachington" strikes again, and the MSM is in their hip pocket. They should admit when they're wrong and apologize.

She isn't waiting for it, she is using it to her advantage. In her speech last night she told the media in so many words that she isn't here to make a good media spectacle, but she is here to go to Washington and make changes for the American people.

If anyone owes anyone an apology, it's Sarah Palin. She owes women in America and women around the World an apology for accepting such an important position when she knew she was in no way ready for it.
She may have damaged a woman's chances of being picked to be part of a major politcal party ticket for years to come.
Compare Sarah Palin to Hillary Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, Barbara Boxer or the many other influential women politicians and what you see is a side-show.
Anyone of us would have been able to answer the questions posed to her by Catie Couric in a more educated fashion.
She is an embarrassment and hopefully her actions won't be held against women in the future.

I am proud to be a supporter of Sarah Palin. I think she is far more qualified than, say, Obama to be president because her political experiences have been in executive offices in her state. I think rather than damaging women's chances in politics she has rather elevated them by showing that women don't have to emasculate the men in their lives to get ahead. If Palin believes she is qualified for the job (she obviously does) I don't understand why anyone would expect her to take a career hit by refusing to run.

Owe her an apology for WHAT? Does the media ever apologize to anyone else for looking for information about a public person, reporting what they discover and asking for interviews? Granted, whoever started and spread the nasty rumors about her baby being her daughter's child should apologize as should all of the many people who spread lies about Obama or any other person, politician or not, but they're not the "mainstream media", are they?
When it comes to any opinion pieces or political shows where the pundits put their spin on everything that happens in a candidate's life, there may be times when some cross the line, I sure won't dispute that, but to say Sarah Palin has been treated any worse than anyone else is just wrong, in my opinion.

I don't think the apology should be for discovering things about her and reporting on them, it should be for the level of "dirt digging" they have done and the negatively slanted presentations of the facts they have found. Also, the the negative presention of the unsubstantiated rumors others have floated about her. If Palin was a man, they would have turned their heads on a lot of things. If she was a liberal man, she could have committed murder and the MSM wouldn't have said anything about it.

Governor is not holding her breath waiting for an apology and I think she put the media in their place in her speech Wednesday night. She is great in handling the media, and I think they will eventually back off some because she will make them look like fools.

Yes, they should apologize, but it won't happen.
As soon as they heard that Sarah Palin was the pick, they went off to Alaska looking for dirt. They claim that because they didn't know much about her, they had to go and investigate.
So why didn't they know about her? With everything she's been doing in Alaska for the past 16 years, she should have been a household name. But, alas, Alaska is not that important to the news media.
On the other hand, has anyone seen any reporters rushing off to Chicago to check out Obama? Have they ever addressed any of the items that show up on blogs or forums? Or tried investigating them? Heck no. They use Obama's two books as proof of his history. That's just bizarre - first that the man wrote two memoirs before the age of 40. And secondly that the news media would take someone's memoirs as fact. Everyone exaggerates his/her own life stories, don't they? Or they hide some facts?

Good point. The main stream media basically put the fox in charge of the henhouse in handling BHO and his memoirs. However, all the MSM roosters ran to Alaska and started crowing about Sarah Palin and her faults as a politician and mother as soon as the words were out of McCain's mouth announcing her as his vp choice. BTW, the MSM media couldn't find anything damning on her and they had to start making things up to make her look bad. She'll never get an apology from them, but the facts will eventually win out and cause the MSM to look even more ridiculous than they are now.

Yes I think so. Most often Media people are too harsh to judge people. They are writing things without proof just to gain popularity. O really admire Sarah Palin in her speech last Wednesday night. She is very intelligent and tough with principles. This kind of leader is what we need in America. She knows where she stand and what she is suppose to do. Her heart is with the people she served not with what she can get from the people. She is very qualified for that position and maybe even more.

It shows just how vile the MSM is because it reports dirt where none exists just to put doubts about her character in the American people. In the media's eyes of injustice, everyone is guilty until proven innocent and you might not hear about the verdict in the end if it goes against their reports.

Nonsense, if you put yourself in the public eye, you are going to get scruntinized, it is as simple as that. And in this election she needs to be looked at more closely than ever because at McCain's age, should he beome incapacitated she might have to step into his place. Not that it could not happen to others, but he is one of the oldest people running for President.

I agree the candidates should be closely scrutinized, but the level of dirt digging and negative presentation of the facts on Sarah Palin merits and apology in my opinion. The MSM has consistently cast Palin and her family in a bad light and has reported on unsubstantiated rumors about her. In my opinion that is irresponsible journalism and someone should fess-up and apologize.

No they should apologize. If they told the truth then there is no need for an apology. People need to accept their actions. I bet if she wasn't a governor she would have been able to keep a better eye on her daughter and she wouldn't be having a baztard grandchild. Nothing but truth.

The reporting on facts is not the worst of what has been done. Some bloggers put out a rumor that Trig, her 4 month old child, is not hers but her daughter's and she was only keeping it quiet. That was totally a lie and yet the media took it and ran with it. I personally think Palin's daughter was raised with good values and she messed up. Now she has to live with the consequences and it's not so bad that she is in the limelight unmarried and pregnant. They are going to do the right thing and get married so she will have no baztard grandchild, thank you, but hopefully Bristol will learn a lesson that ma's good values are the best way to live life after they exit stage left back to their private lives, if that's even possible now. I still think the media should apologize for assuming the worst and reporting it before they had the facts.

The media does not owe an apology because it is only doing what is best for the country by helping Obama! Who are we to say what is right and wrong anyway?
Vote Obama 2008!

If being rude and insensitive to someone is what needs to be done to help Obama, then I'd say our country is in real trouble if, God forbid, he should win.
