Today our area is suffering from the effects of GUSTAV. It has been raining here since last night. Our daughter has a poncho. But it is VERY hard for her to take on and off without some assistance. So we went running around looking for a raincoat. Target, Walmart, Value City, K-mart- nobody carries kid rain coats. We were going to go to Childrens place and shell out some $$$. But we decided to go to Once Upon A Child. It is a consignment shop for kids. Usually we cannot find anything. We lucked into a girls yellow. rain coat with hood. $6.50, I couldn't believe our luck. And its her size. Anyone else had trouble finding raincoats for the kiddies? Target carries rain boots for kids and not the coats. I thought this was strange.

My kids have actually never owned a rain coat. We don't even own an umbrella. We get plenty of rain, and I keep saying I need to buy some umbrellas, I've just never gotten around to it. But these days I have less of a need. I used to walk the kids to their preschool with the baby, and we'd all get soaked. But now I have a car, and the kids take the bus to school, which picks them up right out front of our house. When it's really cold or rainy we'll just wait inside or on the porch.

At least when you decide to get umbrellas, they will be easier to find!

Target carries rain boots in the gardening section and the shoe section, and rain coats in the clothing department. You'd think they'd put them together. I usually have decent luck finding clothes for my son, and have purchased several rain coats. But we live in northwest Georgia and have been suffering through a severe drought for the past 3 years, so we don't really have a need for a rain coat each year.

We asked a manager at the Target nearest our home. They no longer carry child rain coats. They still have the boots. Since I am pregnant also went looking at walmart for maternity wear. They don't carry that now either. Surprising what you find out on a rainy day. You have to go to Walmart.com or Target.com

I have been told the availability of rain gear is seasonal.

All my kids are grown but I shop for the grands sometimes and it is hard for me find anything for kids, they are so picky about the things you buy for them these days. My grand boys have a habit of leaving their coats and rain coats at school and we never see them again. I haven't checked this year to see if they have one. Thanks for reminding me. I will have to check into this.
