Well, unlike a lot of people, I have got a lot of Christmas gifts for people already. Throughout the year I have seen things and thought, hmmm that would be a nice Christmas gift for Aunty Joan, so I have bought it and put it away in my wardrobe until the time comes to wrap it in the appropriate paper. Looking at the floor of my wadrobe it is a mass of carrier bags but what lies within only time will tell. I am a single mum of 3 young boys and feel the need to pcik up a bargain or an ideal gift for someone when I see it. I want to be able to enjoy the build up to Christmas with my children and not get stressed out running around at the last minute like a headless chicken!
Do you think I am mad to be thinking about Christmas so early? Are you a well organised Christmas shopper?

I've got an Aunty Joan Humbug. But if you've bought the present that's one less for me to worry about. I think about Christmas about the 26th December. LOL. I am firmly of the view that if it was left to men Christmas would not happen. Although we are the first to look all spaniel eyes if we are forgotten!! LOL. How'd the camping go?

Oh my gawd, that is so scary and I see that this discussion is 7 days old so that makes it 110 days to Christmas, what happened? Where did this year go, and more importantly what happened to our Summer? it came and went, in practically a few days! It's like it's jumped to Autumn over night! I am dreading the onset of all those adverts about Christmas and not only that I hate going into places like Woolworths who, know doubt will have shelves and shelves full of damn selection boxes. Christmas is just a big commercial whitewash now, sorry I sound like bah humbug, but Christmas comes too soon as it is. Although having said that I buy presents all the year round and if you shop in the sales in January you can pick up a lot of bargains, and providing you have the capacity in space you can stockpile gifts and presents throughout the year, avoiding the Christmas rush!

Oi wolfie34 there is no need to take one's name in vain!!
Seriously though that is what I do, buy stuff throughout the year, birthday gifts as well as for Christmas. I want to avoid all the commercialisation too so buying your gifts early takes you away from all that and you can go out on late night shopping, avoid the shops and go get a hot cup of mead, hot dog. sit down and listen to the sally army!! Oh dear I think I am showing my age!
Cheers for responding

i like your perspective of shopping before time its a good way of doing things it means you buy the gifts at your own time and at reasonable prices but as for me i think am the kind of person who shops the last minute when i see the christmas mood is has caught up with everybody and there is evidence of santa claus and then i rush to do the shopping

Oh goodness. When you say it like that it seems like it is coming up so fast and I hadn't even thought of it. Oh well...I don't even have halloween costumes for my kids yet.

Well good for you. I try to do that as much as is possible, but the problem is I rarely go out shopping for leisure. I usually go to stores because I specifically need something so I don't hang around to browse. But if something does catch my eye and I think it will be an appropriate Christmas gift for whoever, and provided I have the money, I will get it. Trouble is, I sometimes forget about this pre-bought gifts and when the Yules come a rolling and I'm wrapping, I miss out on some of my purchases. Hayay! It's scary because once the BER months roll on, the days just usually fly and before we know it, it's Christmas.

I do not think you are mad at all to start this early. I was hoping to start early too but It's going to have to wait. I am crazy broke. I just bought three of my university books today and I still need one more. I'm hoping that I at least get to buy some of the presents early. Hopefully If I'm not too tired after doing all my work from class I'll work more here on mylot so that I can earn more. I need to buy a lot of things now that school started. When I do my Christmas shopping I usually make a list for each person and then I narrow it down to one or two things. I'll probably start making the list over the weekend so I can at least have that done with already.

No, your not nuts, your just well organized. I always wished I could be that way, get all my Christmas shopping done throughout the year, but it hasn't happened yet. I have a sister in law, that by the time Christmas is over that year, she's already started on her shopping for next year and by the first of the year, she's done already. But no, not me, I run around like a headless chicken at the last minute, it takes me too long to find the right present.

Good day... Yes christmas countdown is in the air. I personally don't bother with christmas gift I just gave it a single thought and buy it. And I don't really expect a gift either. I just wish and pray for them for love and health.

Thanks for the countdown. I will buy Christmas gifts only in the month of December and only if I have extra money. I am not so greedy. I really appreciate you for having such kind of attitude. Based on your discussion, I think money for you is not a problem. In my case it's the opposite. I am still single but I am the one supporting my sister and my parents. My sister is taking up BS Nursing and my parents don't have jobs because they are advised by their doctor to rest because of some ailments. I need to save money. I will give Christmas gifts for sure.

Hi there don_naces
On the conterary my friend I am a single mum of 3 young boys and money very much is the problem. I think that if I buy gifts throughout the year it spreads the cost out so I am not scraping money together to buy presents for everyone! I do thnk presents are cheaper at this time of year too they seem to get more expensive the nearer we get to the yuletide!!
Cheers
