McCains speech made me...

Fall asleep! No joke! So now I am stuck hearing snippets here and their on the morning news. So mylotters what did you take away from McCains big night? The only parts I caught were all about his military service, and I briefly remember hearing "I have an energy plan" that sounded like it was all about drilling more oil and building nuclear plants that nobody wants in their backyard.
So really how did it go? From what I can tell I didn't miss much, just more of the same.

Dangit response 1 took my response. But I was not impressed, he certainly didn't seem to say anything that we haven't heard before last night. For some strange reason I just couldn't get the first George Bush's words "read my lips" out of my head. So what did you think about the back drop? I didn't notice it either until the news pointed it out this morning that it was Walter Reed Middle School, and the news guy said he thinks that it was suppose to be Walter Reed Medical Center, I don't know if I agree with that since the WRCM has had so much bad press in recent years.

I didn't notice the backdrop, except in the beginning with the green screen. I think it's kind of ironic he'd want to have WRMC as a back drop considering his voting record for veterans. But now I'm wondering if the middle school backdrop was a snafu or if it was intentional. Did you catch the guy in the corner that kept holding up various protest signs? I only caught a glimpse, I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about that.

Ooh, Adam Kokesh was that protester (he's part of the Vets against the war, group) -- there were others there, but as far as I know he got the most attention in the crowd.

I think that I couldn't help but looking at all the people there. It was so strange. I have never watched either convention before this election. I was amazed at how some of the people at the RNC looked like they may have been a victim of Reaganomics. I didn't see that protester but, ok was it only me or did anyone else get the impression that Cindy McCain kept changing her clothes? The first night there, I am very sure she changed, and last night I feel the same way.

Sorry but as I dfo not find McCain to be a very inspiring speaker I did not even bother to watch the program. Now I did watch evry minute of Palin's speech that was very interesting. As far as I see today McCain's speech was pretty much the same old thing.

and it made me want to run with a Palin banner. I prefer a b1tch to a wimp. I do not think she will take any crap and will face up and fight back to any bull that is thrown at her.

I watched Palins speech too, and I have to say it with her it doesn't matter which candidate you support, she inspired emotion for either side. In my instance it was more of an "OMG! This woman is a snide b*tch!" and it made me want to run down the street waving an Obama banner.

Even though we are of different political thinking whiteheather, I want to say that I respect your opinion. However, what has been bothering me about this whole thing since McCain announced Palin as his running mate is that people are acting as though Palin is running against Obama. There is little or no mention about Biden vs. Palin. It's almost as though people are assuming McCain is going to die and Palin will be taking over. I'd prefer someone who has an idea about foreign affairs than a b*tch anyday.

Go to the supermarket after a few minutes of doing my best to watch it. His speech was so boring, I could see why the people in the audience were shouting "USA". They were doing it to keep themselves from falling asleep. I hear about 10 minutes of it and it was all a joke to me. He wants to stay in Iraq that is for sure.

I'm sorry, I zoned out too! And usually I'm so good at listening through speeches to get to the bare bones of it. But..yeah :(
From what I hear it's alot of, "I'm a POW, I wanna drill, me me me...blah blah, talkin' to make my buddies here at the RNC happy".
I don't know. I guess I'll have to see what everyone thinks and who thinks what...and maybe someone found an interesting quote...or something.
One thing I did notice: Applause made him repeat himself nearly every time and there was more than a handful of his famous speech-habit; 'My Friends'.
And I'm sorry but that's getting on my nerves, 'cause I want to say, "OMFG you're not my friend John!"

Yeah, I totally no what you mean with the "my friends" thing. It's annoying, and he says it so much that it's gotten to the point where there's not even any sincerity behind it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who found this speech unmoving. I don't know what I expected, but it sure wasn't to fall asleep two hours befor I usually do!

I say, if you want to watch any political speech, don't take your meds before bed! McCain is an evil man that wants to rule the world through force, but all I heard of the speech was blah blah blah, and then I saw the attempts at showing ethnic diversity in their party! We minorities know that they must have paid them to be part of their convention, because the Republican party is for whitey only! That is why I am voting in President Obama, who will distribute the wealth of the rich and middle-class to the poor and others on welfare who deserve a shot at life!
You are confusing me with your support for Obama, as you claim. Why would you try to promote McCain's speech when, if you are a true Obama supporter, you know you are supposed to just bash it to bits?
Vote Obama 2008!

How on earth was I trying to promote McCains speech? All I wanted to know is what the general opinion was on his speech.
Cripes, I'll make you a deal..I won't take my meds before any political speeches if you promise to start taking yours.

I didn't listen to his speech but I could probably tell you how it went. "Blah, blah, blah. I'm a war hero. Blah, blah, blah. Let us win. Blah, blah, blah. I want to cut spending. Blah, blah, blah. Let's keep fighting this war. Blah, blah, blah. I'm not sure how many houses I own." I think that about sums it up. I guess I should qualify this by saying that I am not an Obama fan either. I will just have to right Ron Paul in so I can actually continue to sleep at night. What a sad, sad world we live in!
I hope this was helpful!

I thought he was right on about the "rancor in washington" (and I say also the people) "keeping anything from being done or accomplished".. Demonizing each other (sometimes via media outlets) gets votes (I guess) but it's not good for the country.. I've always liked Mr. Lieberman and Mr, McCain because they do try to "get along" across "party lines"/different viewpoints.. It's easy for pundits to say "they're the bad guys" and "we're the good guys" about your own party and viewpoint.. I can't buy that.. Also I was reminded how he has for some time now had a reputation for standing up to the good ole' boy mentality of politics and also corruption, wanting to reform campaign million dollar donation and lobbying/high priced 'gifts'..

What is wrong with drilling now!
they shouldnt have ever stopped! and they sure shouldnt have capped off what was producing and we wouldnt have been in this shape we are in now.
And what a waaste it is that the nuke plants that took years to build didnt go aline.
Look at the billiobns of $s wasted on that And I do think they should put them on line!
We have had a nuke plant in Idaho way before alot were built and never had a problem with it!
