I think it's become all about money. Retail companies take advantage of it more than most people know. I work for a retail company and we close early before Christmas so that "the employees can spend the holiday evening with their families" - that's what our customers are told... but really we close early so we can decorate... we don't get to go home early - we actually end up staying EXTRA late! Terrible...

That's so cruel of the company! They should let their employees go home, especially if that is what they are telling their customers.

I think it has. Many people just view Christmas as a holiday to spend lots of money and give gifts. Thats fun and all, but the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ.

I agree. It is fun to give and recieve gifts, but it sometimes takes our focus away from the reason for the celebration.

Yes it has!! people keep taking christ out and putting an x in so impersonal don't you think? Considering he is the reason for the season?

Yes I think it has. All you ever hear from kids is I want this for Christmas. You never hear the true meaning of it no more.
