I got 3 kids who are getting older and mouthy. Looking for ideas to keeping them under control without being a bully.

i have seen that parenting is not an easy task.I got kids too. I try each day to get closer to them, play with them, sometimes reinforce parents’ authority. Until we do that we will have young people out of control;
work much harder to keep dads in families as people actively bringing boys into intelligent manhood. Dads play a vital role with daughters, too. We can’t have authoritative parenting for most kids until we put fathers back in the picture;
parent education is necessary to tell parents what they can and should do with their children. Part of this will be teaching parents to say “no”;
we have to find ways of working intelligently with police and local communities to show kids more constructive ways of growing up;
give teachers more authority over children, so they learn the skills they need; and
dismantle the state education bureaucracies and put schools under the control of parents and local communities.

That is a very good answer! So many kids have to grow up in single family homes and really miss the leadership and guidance that comes from a good dad. My mom was great in raising us, but there was nothing like the time I spent with my Dad and all the values I learned from him.
For the original poster, I have friends who are going thru the same issues with their kids. It's easy to judge or tell them what the should do if you aren't in their shoes. I think basically, these kids all need a good spanking and more chores. They have way too much time on their hands to get into mischief these days and then they think it's ok to talk to a parent disrespectfully. I wouldn't have ever gotten by with that. I had great parents, but they would've went to jail before letting one of us disobey or back talk them.

It is rough being a parent these days. However though many friends in my long life, I have found two things work best. A life with God, and keeping children very busy with sports or other possitive activities.
