who can have protein supplements?

Doctors prescribe Protein supplements to people with weak health. does this work? if they have to consume it, for how long they have to do this? so if we feel weak, can we have the protein supplements? why people lack protein? is it a deficieny or disease?

When I was pregnant, my doctor prescribed me a protein supplement because my baby is below his required weight. Prior to my pregnancy, I don't eat that much meat that is why his underweight. I am thankful that it worked for him. Now, I am taking whey protein before, during or after I exercise. It helps with muscle development and tissue repair. My brother told me to take it. Though it is not prescribed by a doctor I think it is safe and effective. If you are suffering from weakness, you have to check with your doctor because this can be a symptom of a disease before taking any supplement. I think there is such a thing as protein deficiency and you will not know that you have one unless you consult a medical professional.

we should understand that the function of protein in your body is for muscle development. you could always hear this stuff from people who are into body building that muscles has to be develop. one thing that we also need to know that if you are taking protein you should work it out to attain it's desired effect for the muscles if not then it will lay idle there in your body and store as fat in the end. i believe it was not prescribe for being weak alone, there could be something else too. so NOT necessarily that whenever you feel weak you should take proteins, the underlying cause of it should be dealt with first. the only thing that people deficient of this element is by not eating meat or improper nutrition. and unless you are into body building then there's no need for you have protein supplements, all you have to do is eat a proper meal that has proteins in it, which is the best source of protein.
