I was just wondering what the size of peoples hard drives are these days. I figure that now days pretty much every computer has at least a 30 gig hard drive. my laptop has a 120 gig hard drive and my desktop that I built a little over a year and a half ago has a 320 gig hard drive. now days they have some terabyte (~1000 gigabytes) hard drives and the prices just keep getting cheaper. Its even crazier to think that solid state hard drives are comming out with no moving parts at all!! we are just at such a crazy time for technology its just advancing so fast I find it so amazing.

My desktop has a 750gb hard drive, my laptop has 120gb, and I have a 250gb external hard drive as well. I don't use most of the space on the actual computers - most things are on my external so I can use between computers. I am patiently waiting for a 1TB external hard drive to go on sale for a price I'd be willing to pay (about $100). I know it's coming soon! :)

Thanks for all of the comments everyone more then I was expecting LOL. The 320 gig on my desktop computer is usually always over half full I should have gotten a bigger one when I built it. Maybe I can make enough money off all these online earning programs I have joined lately to buy a new bigger hard drive.
If anyone needs any sites for hard drives or any computer parts at all i really recommend Newegg.com I have ordered everything I neded for my computer through that site. Theres so much to pick from and theres tons of reviews for top products to really help decide.

Wow! A lot of you guys make me feel like my computer is way past obsolete. It is about 3 years old though. Its only a 40 gig hard drive, but I only use about half of it. And now that I don't really game anymore, I am thinking of clearing up some more of that space. All I use it for now is storing music and word processing.

in my desktop, I still have a 40gb, and I have two 160gb, but later this year, I plan to change my 40gb and a 160gb for a 500gb harddisk. well if you ask why I need that much space is because I've been downloading tons of movies and porns lol

I only have an 80 GB hard drive in my desk top is 2 years old now. Is almost 90% full so I will upgrade very soon to at least 200 GB hard drive. I agree with you, at the time I upgrade to a bigger hard drive it will look like a floppy disk compared to the new tech stuff that is arriving almost every day.

Well depends on where you are I guess. But I'm pretty sure in a worldwide standard, 300-500 GB should be the average. 1 TB's are already mainstream in the US I believe and I'm sure the higher capacities are just around the corner.
Me I just have an 80 GB in my laptop since I bought it a couple years back.
One thing thats amazing is that the cost per MB/GB is getting so cheap these days. I love those passport sized hard disks that can store 80 GB+ and are self powered and still affordable. Just amazing really.
