Easymoney started a discussion about Adam and Eve being the original parents etc and it sparked something curious for me....IF Adam and Eve are the original parents so to speak as Easy basically stated it would make us all related....SOO why all the hatred in the world..I mean even the Christians who are supposed to knowingly be brothers and sisters etc harbour distaste, hostility etc and discriminate to their "family" which is pretty much everyone walking the planet...How is that justified??

There is no justification, and it all does trace right back to Adam and Eve. Everything was perfect until they chose to disobey God, remember?

There are some historians that have stated that we can all be traced back to an original group of women apparently. I wish I could remember the details and share a link on this theory or something, but my memory on it is vague..... I guess all of this dissent exists in the world thanks to our free will and our self sense of superiority. In the perfect world we would of course recognise each other as fellow human beings but greed and control issues always end up reigning supreme. Rather than embrace our core similarities, mankind throughout history has chosen to hone in on sometimes the most miniscule of differences. It is far from justifiable but it is what it is unfortunately.

I think you are referring to Mitochondrial Eve. I've read about it on Wikipedia.

Even Cain and Able had their problems, and all that entered with the original sin. People are imperfect, even Christians. Turning to Christ doesn't automatically make anyone perfect, it's a work in progress, which has to be submitted to, rubs against the grain. Like a potter molding and shaping a vessel. I'm in the potters hands, I haven't been fired yet.

I am anti religion by nature, but that was simply beautifully put, Phelyne. I like your analogy.

Nice teaser. As for how members of the same family could be so cruel to each other . . . I know plenty of close family members, including brothers and sisters, who are not on speaking terms with particular members of their families Lying, cheating, theft--all the vices of humankind really do start at home, on the family level. Speaking for myself, I know of a few close relatives that I would trust approximately as far as I could throw them. Being family does not make you good, and it does not make you a friend. As for Adam and Eve, well, others have said it. It's highly unlikely there ever were such people. Their usefulness as metaphors, however, is obvious.

If Adam and Eve were the original parents, then I wonder how people of each continent look different. Also why was there no religion at that time. Why is there so many religions and traditions. There should have been one religion or tradition which Adam and Eve passed on to their children. I guess Adam and Eve were pissed off after being cast off from heaven and did not want to follow any religion or tradition.

If we were all really "related" our birth defect rate would be crushingly huge. Besides, have you SEEN some of people in this (mylot) world? they look like they've been inbreeding for a tad to long...lol (skeeves at the mere thought)

I don't think hatred is justified, but people are people and even religions think their religions is better than anyone else's/

Hatred seems to be ingrained in human being from old age. Everybody knows the story of Cain and Abel, how Cain killed Abel. Humans are not programmed like computers to do good and whatever they do they are going to be kind and loveable towards their brethren. Human beings have feelings, they car err and do gross mistakes. They can "hate" their brethren and do bad things that we read in newspapers.

If Adam and Eve were the original couple and had children then they must all have been having it off incestuously. The genetic combinations would have caused havoc with peoples brains and the rest is history.... ....seriously though, none of the Adam and Eve thing makes sense...it's just a story made up to explain things for simple folk I reckon.

Hi Ravenladyj........you will be surprised to know that God started all this.......people were living very peacefully on this earth. There was one God, one language and happy living. But then God got bored, he wanted some entertainment, like we want movies and TV shows........so one day he suddenly surprised people by converting their single language into multiple languages, and no body would understand nobody.......so those who could understand each other got in groups........and thus the seed of discrimination was sown for the first time by God himself. I don't know it was for entertainment or for the competition between God and Satan.....all that I know is that we simple human beings became victims and started to suffer and till today we are suffering. And to add to that God gave us heart of blood and flesh instead of stone, so that we can sit and cry whole life.........so you see, how important is entertainment

Because this is not true. Adam and Eve were not the first man and woman. The bible clearly states on day six God created both man and woman in chapter one. In chapter two it says after the SEVENTH day, God was walking through the garden and found there was no man to till the Ground, he form Adam out of the dust, and later created Eve, because it was not good for man to be alone, and no suitable mate could be found for him. There are three blood lines mentioned in genesis, The bloodline of the first men, The blood line of Adam, and the bloodline of Cain when he married and had children from a mixture with the first men. Why would the Church hide this and tell a lie that their was only Adam, when the truth is there for all to see? Who gains from the belief of only one bloodline?

I think that it is caused by the "alpha male" syndrome. We have a need to claim to be better than anyone else. And in order to do that, if we cannot demonstrate a skill that proves our superiority, then we start to put down others to make ourselves look superior. As it goes more extreme, you get into distaste, hostility and discrimination against others that do not "belong" to your tribe. Ever since Cain slew Abel out of jealousy, to follow the "Adam and Eve being the original parents" theme. Just a thought. Another thought: If all religions teach "love thy neighbor", why do we have enemies?

i would love to know that too.. whats funny is that hitler had his family tree done to prove that he was "pure" and then no one heard anything since.. supposively they found out later that he had like black people in his family history so he paid a relative to keep quiet..

Another story of Adam and Eve, it's just kids stuff to tells us how man and women comes from. There's no such cases recorded that we are really from Adam and eve. On the contrary of believes, it makes us believes that we really are form them. In a sense of religion beliefs, and on the other hands. In scientific saying, we are either from outer space or from apes. On the contrary.........

I am no student of the bible but as far as I am concerned when God (Supreme Being or whatever name mankind wishes to call Him) gave us free will is when most of us went wrong and chose to follow their own will and not His Will asking us to love thy neighbor.

Both religion and science affirm a common ancestor. Or at least science says we come from seven women which at this point intermarriage would make us all related somehow. Anyway, I think it is clear in the texts of most religions that we should love eachother. The Manifestations which instigated each religion (Moses, Buddha, Christ, Muhammad, Zoroaster, Krishna, and Baha'u'llah) all requested that we show forth kindness and understanding in some form or another. Thus, it is not justified that the followers of any of these religions should hate anyone. Unfortuanately many do, usually the hatred is born of fear. They fear that by showing kindness they might make themselves or their beliefs vulnerable in some way. They believe by helping someone with different beliefs they are somehow betraying God. But there is only one God and He made all of us so this does not really make sense. Yet almost everyone is hostile or spiteful at one point or another. I guess we are all just not as intelligent as we consider ourselves to be.

Hi Ravenladyj, There are not a lot of people who believe the Adam and Eve story anymore, but I know what what you are saying, if it were true, we would all be brothers and sisters, and shouldn't be fighting each other. Some people still believe that story and if that's where they are right now, that is fine for them, but we should all try to live together in mutual respect. Blessings.

Haven't you ever heard of Sibling rivalry? Some of the worst battles were fought between families and close neighbors. Just because you are related does not mean you are going to like each other. In fact, it is often just the opposite as proven out by history. People tend to 'hate first' and think of a reason afterwards. It is also very simplistic in this day and age to still think that there was just one man and one woman at the beginning. That would make us all products of incideous incest and open to all manner of genetic abnormalities. Of course, that opens up the dreaded box of worms called evolution! Shalom~Adoniah
