Worst or lamest excuses for being late?

All of us experience times when we're already hurrying up because we're going to be late either for school, work, or something else. What was the worst or lamest excuses you have made up but you think worked? Well of course, the heavy traffic is always used but is there anything else? Or what about your excuse is really lame but it's actually the truth. Like "I overslept" or "the clock's alarm didn't go off because it was broken" and similar things. And there was one time where I was late because I thought classes start at 9 and they all started at 8 and even finished with a quiz (thank goodness for my teacher because he's cool about it so he let me take the quiz ) Kindly do share.
