I am so intrigued by John Mccains VP Candidate Sarah Palin. I feel like she has done a lot of good for him in terms of the public and I feel like she is a very hard working and genuine woman, however I am curious as to what the real motives were for selecting her. She is young, pretty inexperienced, and has a full plate already it seems. I am fully supportive of women I just don't know if this is the right time or person for the job. What do you guys think?

It is long past time for a woman President so, yes, a woman VP is overdue. Palin is the right choice for McCain but the wrong choice for America. I have nothing against Christians who believe deeply in whatever brand of Christianity they choose to follow. I have a real problem when they want to legislate their beliefs and try to convert everyone to their particular version of Christianity and that is what the young Governor will do if she is elected our Vice President. She will use that office to spread her brand of religion and to influence legislation to make us all a more "Christian" nation.
I have a real problem with that because we are not now nor have we ever been a Christian nation. Even for those of you who are Christians, do you want someone in power telling you that what you believe is wrong? Governor Palin is very extreme in her devotion to her Pastor and his Church. She is on record as saying she only believes what he tells her to believe. That isn't the person we want a heartbeat away from the Presidency.
In 1960, people were worried that JFK would be too influenced by the Pope. He wasn't. He was his own man. Governor Palin isn't her own woman. She will be influenced by her Pastor and he has his own version of Christianity that includes actively trying to convert other Christian to his point of view.
The John McCain of 2000 would never have chosen her. He'd never have bent over backwards to please the religious right...which is why he lost to Bush. Now he is going further than Bush to allay these folks and he hopes he can keep the moderates and independents from noticing.

I think that this campaign has been a real big joke. I think both parties have been getting a real kick out of shocking the public. I agree with you she does have a lot on her plate and she just gave birth to a special needs baby. But she can do a lot of good for our nation. She is a real person. Her daughter is only 17 and is pregnant , maybe we do need someone that has the same real life struggles that most of us Americans do. To me she has more morals than most previous candidates have had.
