I just found out that Jerry Reed died September 1, 2008. He will be missed by me and I know 100,000,000s of others. Not only a great music man but also a good actor. I guess the good lord likes to hear some good pickin to. Love you Jerry, and I'll miss you. Hardluck.

I met Jerry Reed at a small bar in London, Ontario about 20 years ago the guy was as much a comedian as he was a singer and actor.
They had no dressing room for him in the bar so he was using his Limo to change between sets which was parked below my balcony.
He came out of the car with his clothes half on and since I couldn't afford the tickets to go see him in the bar he gave me a private show well he finished getting dressed for his next set. To bad I didn't have a camera at the time. He will be missed

Thank you for sharing this with us,I do not keep up with the news because me and my fiance are usually really busy, and I was not aware that Jerry Reed had passed away, he was a great musician and a great actor, and I remember watching him in the Smokey and the Bandit movies where he played the role of Snowman to a t,and they would not have been Smokey and the Bandit with out Snowman as Bandits friend and accomplice in crime.

Hi Hardluck,
I watched most of the second show that Jerry Reed did, and it was great! Jerry's guests were Burt Reynolds, Tammy Wynette,Ray Stevens, and Jerry's daughter making her singing debut. Tammy sang Stand by Your Man, and "'Till I Can Make It On My Own". Burt did a song about having a special room in his house for a little boy. I think that he wanted to adopt a boy, but was denied. At the end there was a picture of a little boy, so I hope that he got his wish. I hope that they can release these two shows on DVD, I know that I will buy them.

I too was saddened by Jerry Reed's passing. He was a great guitarist and song writer. I never realized that he wrote a lot of the songs that Chet Atkins recorded. Last Saturday night on RFD TV, there was a tribute show to Jerry Reed. It was a pilot that Jerry did for a Saturday night show which never aired because it was replaced by Saturday Night Live. Jerry had Jerry Clower, Lynn Anderson, and Chet Atkins on as his guests. Jerry did his song "Alabama Wild Man" with Jerry Clower,( in the brightest yellow suit that I ever saw), in the audience as his daddy. Talk about funny! At the end of the show, Jerry did a guitar duet with Chet Atkins. I almost lost it as I realized that both are now gone from this world. This coming Saturday night on RFD TV, the second pilot that Jerry did will air at 8:00PM. One of his guests will be Burt Reynolds. It should be a good show.
