What do you do when...

you can't be motivated to do anything? For some reason I am in a sort of limbo right now. I realize there are things I could and should be doing, but it just isn't happening for me. Do you ever get this way? How do you deal with this problem? If I could apply it to writing I would call it writer's block, so I suppose it is "movement block." I think I will go out for a bit of fresh air for starters. Maybe I've been cooped up in my apartment for too long.

Great question and when you find the true profound answer let me know. Honestly, what I do is simply take a break from thinking about what I'm supposed to be doing, and take the time to write some posts on mylot or do something else totally opposite of the thing I know I should be doing or need to do. We all get in the ruts and ask ourselves how do we move to the next step or level and most of the time, the answer is inside of us. And we need other people to act as sounding boards to get us to talking and then poof out comes the answer to our dilemma. Was it that friend that had the answer for us, no. It is the still small voice that lets us know what we should or shouldn't do. However, because that still small voice isn't rude, alot of times we cannot hear the voice speak clear instructions because we have gotten too busy. Talk a mental break from thinking about the thing you need to be doing, and do something totally different, watch a good movie or something that is in your interest, watch the nature channel of TV, your favorite sitcom or sports team play a game. And then purpose fully go back to that very thing that you need to be doing and the answer will unveil itself, if you listen to that still small voice. Hope it helps. Do let me know when you've found your answer, I'd be interested in knowing. Happy mylotting

Without a schedule or a routine, my life is so out of kilter. I'm putting on weight because I (eat too much) sit at my computer for hours on end getting bored waiting for the pages to load. If I got busy doing everything else that needs doing things would be much better. I have tried so hard to simply set up certain days for certain chores but something inevitably gets in the way...it's driving me crazy. I have a friend who cares nothing about what I'm trying to do and he is a champion time waster. I tell him what I' trying to do and I get a blank look then he ignores me. I've told him I'd like the afternoons to myself and he ignores me. I feel like my life is not my own and I have very little privacy in some ways.

I get that way a lot so I just get up and do whatever it is that I absolutely have to, the longer I think about it the more I don't want to do it, so I just get up and do it without thinking about it.

It could be just one of those days. Get busy and you will have no time to think.

I get that way all the time. I battle this almost daily sometimes. I don't know if I am getting lazy, or if I am suffering from depression or what...Sometimes I just get to the point that I don't even feel like trying...

Yes, there are moments that we felt this way. This usually happen to me when my mind is full of worries over something. I couldn't think or do right. When im into this situation, i took a deep breath and rest for a couple of hours. Until my mine is free on worries.

Smotivated make you stronger, sometimes you have to really just give yourself a push. If I did not do this I would never get out of bed in the morning! i am a pig, like to sleep as a pig,Sometimes it takes a little forcing. Maybe if you plan to reward yourself after you are done doing what you have to you will be more motivated than you were before.

If you have everything you need to survive then there might not be too many things that can make you move. I am motivated by survival. If I don't do anything then I would surely face annihilation which might be nice compared to being caught in the doldrums.

I get like this a lot, I will plan my day out the night before and then it comes to the day and I just do not feel like doing anything. I just have no impulse to do it! I think that fresh air is a good idea, I think a lot of mine comes from being stuck in the house for so long too.

i try to keep in touch with my family and friends. at least they could give me a reality check and keep me going. i'm in this sitch right now. been for a few days already. i cherish the moments when i've got nothing to do. but then, i tell myself, that time spent on nothing, is time wasted. so better be up and going.

Sometimes even I tend to feel like that. But what you must do is think positive and not feel all down or sad. When you think and feel positive automatically you will say I can do those things and I'm sure you will do them. Yup go out and take some fresh air and come back. Just close your eyes and say to your self there i nothing that can stop me and stay focused. You will automatically get back to normal. This is what I basically do when I face such a situation. And it has always helped me come out of it. So I hope it helps you out too.

Good idea, different surrounding will help you decide what needs to be done or to get your head in order! Sometimes being cooped up indoors all the time you just need the fresh air to blow the cobwebs away as it were and it gives you a different perspective on what to do next! Fresh air clears the mind and makes you feel a whole lot different and helps the inertia my friend, It works for me and I am sure when you return you will feel far more refreshed and have an idea of what needs to be done next!

I get like that sometimes too. I just can't get motivated to get the stuff done that needs to be done. Just take a break and go outside for some fresh air and then come back in and see if you can get it done then.

While I may get a tad annoyed at myself for having days when I don't feel like doing much of anything, I take it as a sign that maybe I just need to slow down and take it easy...I pretty much have a "to-do" list everyday...things I want to accomplish, and for the most part I do them all. But then I get days where I'm a zombie...not much energy, complete brain fog...so I give into the feeling and just take it easy....like I said maybe it's my body's way of telling me not to do my usual three thousands things a day...LOL

Well if it is because you have been cooped up, maybe taking a walk or going to the park will refresh you..Or go and visit some friends you haven't seen in a while. Get together with someone you know will motivate you, have lunch or go see a movie..Doing something different usually motivates me to get many things done..

I have a lot of medical problems that keep me from walking and going places. And it is very hard for me to get in the mood to do things, but when I do force myself to go some place I find that I feel better emotionally anyway. It is very easy to fall into that rut and you really need to find something to get yourself out of the house. But don't set a routine because that will just put you into another rut. Try to wake up every morning and thank God for this Great day and find some fun way to spend it. God Bless and Have a Great day
