What do you do with the very ripe bananas on your fruit bowl?
I liquidize them and then mix them with cooked apple and freeze them in small boxes and give it to my children for breakfast in the morning.
My children , well at least my boys have suffered badly with bowel problems in the past and wouldn't ear yourhurt as they didn't like the fruit bits. So to get some fruit into them I started doing this. They wolf it down and there are no three plastic pots to put into reclclying. So everyone wins all round. Heathly children and heathly world.
I used to hate it when as a child my mum would put the ripe banana in jelly, tasteed digusting.

I just want to say "thanks" for all of the tips on the usage of ripe bananas. One thing I do enjoy, is to share things like this with tips and how to make good and healthy snacks.
Take a banana and slice it into pieces - add some of your favorite nuts (chopped up) on top - drizzle a litle liquid chocolate on it - eat and enjoy. Yum!

I had a few things that I can think of:
1. Cucur kodok- Mash banana with fork or hands. Add in wheat flour, a pinch of salt and some sugar. Mix well. Deep fry in vegetable oil.
2. Banana with coconut- Cut the banana into small pieces. Boil the banana with 150 ml of coconut milk and some sugar. You can put in a knot of pandan leaf.
Try it.

I usually just throw the ripe bananas into a ziplock bag and toss them in the freezer. I add more bananas as they ripen too fast for us to consume. These are great for making smoothies, or even better, banana bread. My kids also think frozen bananas are a special treat. I sometimes slice them and lay them out on a cookie sheet before freezing them. Then when they are frozen I dip them in melted chocolate and give them to the children. Yummy!

You could also make banana cake. That's just an ordinary sponge cake with chopped or mashed banana mixed in.

So far I like making a mix of mashed bananas and peanut butter. But often, very often I make banana bread and banana cake quite often.
Today though my partner and I made a snack of bananas, cinnamon, sugar, chocolate and marshmallows. We split the bananas in half and put a mini chocolate bar on one half of it. We then took and cut a marshmallow in half and put that on top of the chocolate. On the other half of the banana we sprinkled it with sugar and cinnamon. We put it in the toaster oven for about 5 minutes till the chocolate was melted then took it out. Putting the halves of the banana together, we ate it with a spoon because it was that messy. It was really good though.

It is not very often that bananas last long enough in our house to get over ripe, but I did have some the other day that needed using up. I decided to try and make a banana cake with them, I had never made one before. I found a recipe for it and bought the ingredients I needed and set to making it. I thought it was doomed, as the battery in my scales had run out so I could not measure my ingredients!
In the end I guessed using a babys bottle I had in the cupboard instead! It actually turned out really nice! The only trouble with bananas is that I find if they are used in cooking then not everyone likes the taste and so I had a mixed reaction to the taste of it. They like the icing though as I did a chocolate buttercream to go on top.

We usually make it into "Maruya" a Filipino snack made of mashed banana, flour, milk, egg. Fried. It's like a banana pancake. I also make banana-strawberry with yogurt smoothie. Also, you can try making banana cream float. Whip light cream and banana, sandwich it between crusts made of crushed graham and butter, then top with peanut butter.

I hate extra ripe bananas. I never eat them. They taste so yucky . I usually finish of all the bananas before they can get fully ripe. It tastes much better that way. When the bananas get just ready to eat from raw state I love them the most.
Very rarely if at all the bananas go a little extra ripe, my mom mashes it and mixes it with egg and other ingredients like sugar, flour etc and makes banana fritters which taste nice. So in this way the bananas don't go for waste.

I have clients who are supposed to be watching their weight, and when they have an overripe banana, I freeze it whole. When frozen, I put it with one cup skim milk in the blender and whirl it til it is a thick banana shake. That client feels like she is having a real treat, and it is healthy and non fat. I also make banana bread, or banana muffins. I can be real lazy and just stir it into a cake mix, reducing the oil in half, and it is good that way as well.

Ripe bananas would make for very sweet banana muffins or banana loaves. Whenever we have a lot of bananas I buy ingredients to make a banana loaf. Of course, overripe bananas just go straight to the trash. I wouldn't want to salvage them and end up with a tummy ache! I've never really liked frozen bananas. Not only is it hard to bite, it becomes mushy after defrosting!
