Simplfying My Life...I Have Too Many!!

Websites that I belong to...I think a lot of us can be guilty of signing up and joining a lot of sites....whether PTC sites, networking, etc. When I first got my own computer for instance I joined the bandwagon and signed up for a lot of PTC sites....but I just found it too much of a bother keeping track, clicking on the ads, and many times it just took too much of my time..and it wasn't like I was earning millions (not even hundreds...LOL)...so zapped them all.
Then I joined up a lot of networking type sites...and slowly but surely been even eliminating them save for a few...I mean it was reaching the point that I was forgetting which sites I was on...LOL. For instance, one friend of mine is dying for me to join up with SecondLife...which I've gone over to lurk but first of all looks too darn complicated for me.
I even joined up with different places where if you participated and earned points you could get freebie items...again too much bother...I mean all these sites I was joining up with were just plain too many to keep track of and were eating away my time that I needed to do other things
How about you? Have you, did you join up with a lot of places that after awhile you've forgotten just who, what or where you signed up with? Do you find it a bit overwhelming after awhile and then just decide it's too time consuming when you need to devote more time to other projects and cancelled your accounts?
There are only a few places I rather hang out at all the time...uh, mylot is one of them...

Hi pyewacket! haha..I did forget almost all the passwords I have signed up with. I joined so many sites but after some time, I have neglected a lot of them and then completely forgotten which is which. haha..The only site that I have maintained is mylot and I guess, it is because this is closer to my heart and I find the other sites just something that I can do without really. haha..
Take care always..God Bless!

I had one funny incident happen...someone recommended a site where one could get freebie products...so went to sign up and was given a notice that I was already a member...I had forgotten I already belonged to the place

I certainly think that my plate is so full right now that I wish I could have more time to fulfill my commitment to other online sites as well.
Right now, I'm actively updating my blogs almost everyday, being active in mylot, writing articles in helium and writing reviews. I do this like on a rotating basis or just pop up many tabs and windows and on top of that, I am into friendster and multiply. It is just so awesome and it gets so busy to reply to friends' posts that sometimes I feel so guilty for not being able to answer my friends' blog posts.
The internet is really a life of its own and it could really be addictive. Sometimes I wish that I could just stick to just one site, but the other sites will be there and I will just take a little time out to check, and from minutes, it will turn to hours, ha!
Have a cheery day. c;)

I feel the same way you do. I definitely feel like I've joined way too many sites. It's not just sites that I visit to make money on either, it's sites that I visit for pure entertainment purposes. Sometimes I get bored of the sites that I usually visit so I find others and join. Eventually those sites just get boring or I get busy and forget about them so I don't visit them anymore. I usually do not cancel my account, the website usually does it for me.
Sometimes people tell me about all the interesting sites that they find themselves and instead then I join and I either find them really boring and not worth my time or they fall into the pile of websites that just aren't my top priority and the site either cancels my account or I end up canceling it too depending on the site and if I can remember my log in information.

LOL--I sometimes forget my login info especially if I haven't been at a site for a real long time...In fact I got fed up with getting emails from Meez that I had joined a long time ago, so wanted to delete my account there...I had trouble logging in and had to get them to send me an email reminder of my password..as soon as I got it...deleted the account. I might even leave Neopets as I haven't done anything in months

Hi pye,
The only site I've joined besides myLot, is the one that actually introduced me to myLot. They included myLot as one of our 'supposed streams of earning.' The thing is, the main source of income with them, was blogging and getting people to purchase products etc., that we talked about in our blogs. Anyway, I never made a dime doing this, which was quite discouraging, so I thought I'd give it a try 'here.' As it's turned out, myLot is the only source of pay I've received through this failed business venture of mine. Before I signed up for 'the business,' I'd never even heard of myLot. I am happy I did this though, as I've made some very wonderful friends. I also signed up for one of those online survey taking deals onetime, and ended up making all of $5.00.

Thanks for the helpful advice here, tigerdragon. I'll keep it in mind, if I decide to go this route. I've never heard of the sites you've mentioned, so this is very helpful. I'm looking into some other opportunities as well. Take care.

I have two blogs actually, but haven't checked up on them in ages, let alone update them. I'm not sure I could even 'find' them, if I tried. It would be wonderful, if we could really get them to pay us though.

Yeah, I guess I'm a member of too many sites, too... but two of them are winding down, so I'll have a little more time soon (unless I join others)

I've been trying to narrow down which sites I am on. I think I'll stay with myLot though

MyLot has been very supportive to me, and educational. I love the friends here, and the little bit of change is nice as well.

I signed up for Gather but have done next to nothing there. I just can't seem to get into it. It looks a bit complicated, and I don't know if I have the patience to get too involved. The other sites I'm involved are more straightfoward, and I'm able to navigate very easily. It seems I have more of an interest in making those work for me.

I am guilty as well. I have a way to maintain your sanity and still be a member to all sites. In the beginning I did the same thing. When it came time that I would want to log on to a site, I couldnt remember the password or name. I decided to keep a record of them. WHen I want to go to them I can just look up the password and go from there. Its good to join a lot of sites. It saves the hassel of having to sign up again in the chance you need to use that site in the future. I bought a small plastic container(square). It holds index cards. THe small 3 x 5 lined cards. I also bought alphabet dividers. Now when I join a site, I create a card with all the important information needed to log on successfully. It works wonderful. Try it. Even though you have your favorites you may need another site later on. If the site has to be updated every few times, make a note of it and go from there. Its quite a system. I love it. I hope it helps. Happy MyLotting, friend. dl

Nah...I just decided to make my life a lot simpler by just not belonging to a lot of sites anymore...since I do a lot of other important work, like write articles, scan photos to digitize, building up an on-line photo business, I just deleted a lot of sites..for instance I deleted Triond as I hadn't done anything with that since early last year, and eliminated a lot of networking sites that I hardly went to.

There was once when I signed up for this, that and the other. But I lost track of everything I signed. So now, I stick to usual few websites I visit which does well for me. Simplifying your life is the key!

I have signed up many and now I am tired of them and want to concentrate with two three for writing review and articles which I am learning. I have tried a write up but rejected by the site with a plea to improve the article. I think I will improve it by remaining at my lot most of the time and submit it again or write some others. I at my lot feel some relief and I enjoy here to exchange my views and share my experience with the very new and experienced persons from all over the world.

So you like to write articles and reviews too? I spend a lot of time writing articles myself...those sites I won't give up, but it was all the others I decided to eliminate as they were taking too much of my time which I didn't like

yes and i had to drop a bunch to. then, some wouldnt let me use my simple pass word that i started using for years. all of a sudden you started having to use elaborate numbers and such to join. so, as a result i began to forget! therefore some never let me retrieve pass word so, i ended up not being able to get in! recently playlist did that to me and i've had to delete one account and have to make another

Hi pye,
There are so many people asking other people to join other sites all the time, it can get very annoying sometimes, as for me I only have one site and that is Mylot, I don't think I have time for any other site as it is I'm here at Mylot till the early hours of the morning and I don't think I can mange any other sites.
Bright Blessings.
Tamara

Heehee..spend a lot of time here too, huh? Yes I'd rather be here too. I don't know how some people that do belong to a lot of sites managed to spend equal time everywhere...one would need 60 hours in a day I think...I need 60 hours just to do all my other stuff, like write articles, etc...LOL

I don't sign up for many things anymore, there is just too many sites, and I am only one person and the hours in a day do not extend just because I take on any more sites, so I just stopped. I stick with my main stays and that is it.

I know exactly what you mean. In my home-business we talk about having more than one oar in the water so that you can get varied (and more) results. I found that I had way too many oars in the water at times and I was actually getting nowhere.
I've done the same thing as you and thinned out the herd a bit. Although I think I still belong to a zillion sites, I would say about 10 get my "regular" attention. I think I'm way more productive this way and I'm definitely happier!

One area I have to simplify online is the amount of emails I receive. I think something looks interesting and I sign up for the newletter or notifications. I am getting hundred of emails a day at least. now to start the process of going to each one of these emails and getting my name off the lists.
I just found out I got a payout from myLot. That was a nice surprise. I'm not on here as much, but will keep haning here.
