Controversial artist Marilyn Manson: Producer of brilliant social commentary or role model for violence and hatred?
For those not well-versed in his lyrics, consider these examples:
"I never really hated a one true god
but the god of the people I hated" (From "Disposable Teens")
"Some children died the other day
We fed machines and then we prayed
Puked up and down in morbid faith
You should have seen the ratings that day" (From "The Nobodies")
"I'm on a campaign for pain
And when I get elected
I'll wipe the white off your house
The smile off your face
...
...
I woke up today and wished for tomorrow
I don't want to be like anyone else
I woke up today and wished for tomorrow
I don't want to even be myself
...
...
It's too hard to hold hands when your hands are fists
My hate pop won't ever stop
I'm (fudging) glad we're different
This is my hate american style
hit
Don't bring
Don't sing it
Use your fist and not your mouth" (From "Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth")
I obviously can't go through EVERY song, but feel free to post lyrics (just tell us from which song) in your discussion to make your point.

I don't think Marilyn Manson is a role model for violence. Violence is in the person, not what they listen to, watch or play.

Marilyn Manson (real name Brian Hugh Warner; born January 5, 1969) is an American musician and the leader of the band Marilyn Manson. Known for anti-religious, profane, and provocative lyrics and behavior, he has been the subject of much controversy, particularly during the late 1990s.
incase you wated to know better about him :)

Thanks for copying & pasting that little tid bit from somewhere else online...
I'm sure most of us already knew those things about him.
And posting what his name is and where he is from and his birthday aren't really relevant to this discussion now are they?
Sorry if I'm being mean but I'm sick of people posting to topics when it's not adding anything worthwhile to the discussion just so they can get money for posting something!!

I enjoyed his stuff before Mechanical Animals.
That album in particular I found a little too tame and a little too "out there," and everything after that seemed mostly just like a rehash of what he'd been trying to do with Antichrist Superstar.
Also, I just can't stand The Golden Age of Grotesque. Dita Von Teese done got that boy whipped.

MM is a Fing genius.
He has discovered that being outragous, controversial, and different can make one a multimillionaire.
MM was a little twerp from Canton Ohio who is now rich and famous.
I have all his CD's; I will admit that his music isn't the greatest but it's all about his message and releasing build up aggression.

i dont think he is a role modle for violence i think he knows what it is like to be down and not have anyone to talk to he has come a long way from his addictions to what he is today. I like his music i think it is a good stress reliver. I have all his cds and yes they may be bold statements but he states the trith if you think about it he tells it how it is how people realy feel.
