Who writes for Helium?

I wonder if someone here who writes for Helium has ever been paid a substantial amount for an article. I also wonder under which category do most people write for. There seems to be a lot of similar articles written and i could not find (yet) any unique/original piece written. I plan to submit one article but am still hesitant for it might just lie buried beneath a pile of highly rated, similar subjects.

I have all (well most of the "skinny" on Helium) I have made money in their Marketplace. This is where they list companies wanting to purchase articles on certain subjects. However, you may write several articles and only get one or none of them accepted. I try to write the articles with the fewest other responses to give me a better chance. I have had 8 articles accepted in the Marketplace - anywhere from $16 to $40. I have worked on articles for the contests and won about three first places at $60 each and one second place at $40. However, I really feel that the contests are rigged. You write your article and people go back and read them. If you are at first place, they will take your article, rewrite it and try to get a better score. So, that isn't fair at all. You may be at first place, but everyone can read yours, go into theirs and rewrite it so that it gets a better score. I never just write an article for Helim - it would be extremely free labor and I don't write for free unless I'm trying to help someone else - not a company like Helium. I go back and look at their marketplace when I'm not working on other assignments. Good luck to you.

I earned 300 plus from Helium because of the Marketplace :) I love AC because you simply take the call and you get paid 4 bucks. I do both!

I have 5 articles on Helium, but I've not really earned very much from them, but there again I have not promoted and don't visit very often as I have several blogs and other websites that I look after. Writing for the Internet is a little tricky I think because there is so much similar content and it's difficult to come up with something original that will stand out. I think it's good to get involved in forums and and social sites and build up friendships and this way provide links to your work that will eventually improve search-engine ratings. It is good because in my opinion, it inspires people to be helpful to others. So I tend to put up articles with a view to providing value, if they earn money, all well and good, but if they don't well at least they may be of help to somebody else :-)
