Why do we cry when we are happy?

We often hear many people say "tears of joy" when they cry because of joy. My husband also don't understand me why I cry when I watch a movie which I claim to be entertaining and makes me happy. I always say that happy movies make me cry. . . Why do we really cry even when we are happy when crying is supposed to mean sadness?

Sometime we laugh so hard that tears come out of our eyes without realizing it. Thanks.

some people say "i'm so happy i could cry" that's tears of joy. (",)
maybe because of the strong emotions you can't control and the only
way to express it is to cry..(",)

I guess so. Sometimes our emotions get too far that it becomes difficult to control it. Thanks.

We cry when we're happy because we are actually SAD for ourselves. What is happening to the person (marriage, baby being born, graduation, etc...), somehow invokes a feeling in you about it. Maybe it didn't happen to you, maybe it never will, maybe it did and it failed, maybe it rained at graduation, maybe SOMETHING... The scene you are watching provokes any negative feelings you have deep inside, and that's why you cry.

Think about every scene you ever cried at, (or will cry at) and think of how that scene relates to you. You should then see the connection.

Well, if you haven't cried when you were happy, then you haven't experienced that so-called tears of joy. . . Smile. . .. Thanks.

Isn't it better to release one's emotion than to keep it to himself? We feel relieved when we let out what we feel inside. Thanks.
