What are you views on illegal immigration and how do you think we should fix it?
Should we crack down and send everyone back to their orignal country? Should we stop allowing babies that are being born to illegal parents citizenship when they are born here?

I think that the illegal immigrants are in the USA and now it is home for them. They should be allowed to stay and their babies should get US citizenship. I believe that the USA should protect its borders and not get anymore illegal immigrants coming in. Counties like Senegal have television adverts saying stay, don't go to Europe illegally. There is better protection in the water trying to stop illegal immigrants reaching the Canary Islands. The situation is not as good in Libya where illegal immigrants try to get across to an Italian island. Australia is an example of a country that stops illegal immigrants coming in. Everyone must have a visa and they search for people that overstay. If it finds an illegal immigrant they will be sent home and given a ban from visiting for a while. Getting on in everyday life without a tax file number there would be problematic.

Well Australia would be hard to sneak into period since they have no bordering countries.

I am not familiar with the illegal immigrant problem in the USA. I have been there three times and am just an innocent traveler. Yes, Australia is surrounded by water and its neighboring countries are a fair distance away. I live on an island but we still have illegal immigrants coming it too. Perhaps it is a world problem.

I don't really think there is much we can do about them. If the people in power don't want to do nothing there is not much we can do. Those people come from other country to live in what we call ours, but if we'd found ourself in their same situation, wouldn't we do the same as them? Is easy to say we sand them back, where, most of the time those people say they come from one place and instead they come from onother. How can u stop allowing babies that are being born from illegal citizenship parents?

You can't stop them from being born but you can deny them citizenship.

Before you start bailing out water filling up your boat, you have to stop the leak. So first and foremost we need to STOP the flow of illegal aliens into this country. A border WALL would be nice, but how about if we start out with the border fence that the house, the senate, and Bush signed off on last October?
Second, unless you've been here at least 10 years, have no criminal record, have a job, not collecting government benefits of any kind, AND are willing to pay ALL back taxes on money earned, then you get deported. Simple as that.
Third, we need to change the laws that say that anybody born here is automatically a US citizen. This alone is a large reason why women who are 8 months pregnant jump the borders to have their kids for free in OUR hospitals. 10 years later after their kids have gone to OUR schools paid for with OUR tax dollars and treated in OUR medical facilities, they think they deserve to be here for the sake of their child. Changing this law would eliminate ALL of this.

I know for atleast the Mexican consulate, they do issue Tax I.D. numbers for paying taxes. So they aren't all completely freeloading but I know what you are saying.

I think that illegal immigrants should be returned to their original country, of course, but they would probably just come back across the border. I think, though, that if people are born on American soil they should be considered Americans. The main problem, though, is that illegal immigrants are taking up the jobs in some areas. They are a major problem where I live because jobs are so scarce here. It irritates me to have to train people to do my job that can't even speak my language.

Where are you from? Most illegal immigrants actually can't work normal jobs b/c they don't have any proper i.d. or a social security number.
Does it matter how long they have been here when it comes to sending them back or not?
