I never agree that egg come under vegetarian food. But unfortunately it is declared as a vegetarian food.We all know that a chick come out of an egg.But that chick is considered as non-vegetarian food.Eating an egg means that we are eating the chick even before its birth. Then how come it is vegetarian...?Its very silly that still people call it a vegetarian's food.Thats my opinion..
So friends what is your opinion on this...???Share with us..
I thank you for reading and responding to my discussion..

it is vegetarian, as it is an animal product, not an animal.
the hens used to lay eggs for consumption probably never see a cockerel in their entire lives, so the chances of the egg actually being FERTILISED, and therefore an unborn chicken, are non existant.
not all eggs contain chicks. the chicken would have to have had her eggs fertilised by a cockerel fot that to be the case. as commercial laying hens are not kept with cockerels, the eggs are definitely unfertilised.
eggs ARE vegetarian. they are NOT Vegan. a vegetarian eats no meat. a vegan eats no animal products.

It's an age old mystery. What came first? The Egg or the Hen? But atleast they are right to classify Egg under Vegetarian food. The foremost reason for it being that it's not a tissue. Egg is not a tissue. It's just an Embryo which has a lot of proteins and vitamins. If it were a tissue or an organism, then it could have been considered under meat, but since proteins and vitamins are classified under organic vegetarian, egg cannot be considered as a Non-vegetarian item.
Eating eggs s good for health and all people should eat eggs atleast once a week. They have a high source of vitamins and proteins.

I think they label eggs vegetarian based on the type of feed that they use. Technically, eggs can be used in a vegetarian diet because vegetarians tend to eat eggs and dairy or either one. Vegans are the ones that don't use any animal products whatsoever. I am a semi-vegetarian and I mostly eat dairy with some eggs now and then.

I have always viewed this question compared to abortion. If you think abortion is wrong, then you must view the egg also as meat. But if you believe that abortion is alright since the baby hasn't been born yet, then you are justified in your stance that egg is vegetarian. So what is your view of it? Personally, my views on abortion are still divided, I don't stand for it, or against it, but no, I don't think of egg as vegetarian, it's definitely non-veg, as we are eating a foetus.

Dear dsharat I think egg is purely non-veg item and it is being considered, but unfortunately it has been declared as veg I disagree with the view. Chicken is considered as non-veg item then how egg will be veg as chick comes out from the egg. It is controversial arguement.

Some people say beef is vegetarian food because cows eat grass. Lol! Seriously, I have never considered eggs to be vegetarian. I was vegetarian for a while which meant, no meat, no eggs, no fish. Cheers!!
