People advertising on here

I have seen a lot of discussions lately, that people are just advertising links, trying to get referrals, and a few even advertising products. I know I may have done this a few times in the past, but realized that it is not appropriate. It is one thing to discuss a certain website, but posting a link just trying to get referrals is wrong. Talk about those things in a pm.
How do you feel when people make these kind of discussions? What do you think should happen to them?

The discussions you mention are decreasing rapidly. Thee were many more a few months back.
There is a cleanup' cmapaign going on in the MakeExtraMoney interest and several users are taking part in reporting anyone who violates the TOS there.
Could be for spamming, scamming, cheating or creating a non-discussion just for promotional reasons. We report until they get the message, explaining to genuine new users where they go wrong.
Oh yes because that's a problem too, a big problem - many of the so-called 'newbies' are oldies in disguise!
We will do out best to clean up and get rid of this plague
I'm going to wish you happy posting
and then leave my signature which offenders get to see.......

I like the way you think. We should all pitch in to clean up. It is definitely something I need to do more, and will make a better effort. I know that mylot does clean up, but there are so many, the definitely need help.

Hello there stellarjade, I have seen numerous and countless such links filled with personal referral links, which should be typed in PMs only. That is quite an eyesore and I have seen some people just day in and day out typing just referral links and you could see it in the discussions they have started. It is purely about making money and promoting their links.
I think that could be done discreetly and not openly. Suggesting to PM someone or suggesting someone to PM for more questions are still alright to see but if they start flaming their links, then it could be a real eyesore.
I think those discussions should be deleted so that mylot will appear to be more organized.

It always seems to be repeat offenders. Always posting the same things over and over. Not learning from their mistakes.

Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I think that those who are "repeat offenders" or you know, are told and then disregard, should be stopped. Newbies make mistakes, and that's okay, take the advice if your a new person, you know? I know I probably did a few things that aren't allowed and probably still do, but if someone says "hey don't do that, it's not allowed. Read the guidelines" then i'm like "okay" I read it, and if it's there I abide, if not, I just ignore.
Some people, are.... just stubborn.

There is a big problem - some of the so-called 'new' users are oldies with a new dress. If they are recognised by any of the regular users they get what could seem like harsh treatment but this is only because they have been caught in the act
I am only too willing to help the genuine new users.

I am torn on the noobies. It is good to help them out, point out their mistakes. And yet they should read the rules like the rest of us.

Wanna join us in the "miLot Police"? Help stamp out spammers, scammers and obnoxious -----! I used to be nice and tell a new user that putting a referral link in a discussion was against the rule. No more. I just report them. If they're new, they should'a' read the rules. If they're old pros coming back under a new name they know better.

Ooh, the mylot police, I like it. I have to agree with you about people reading the rules. I always read them when joining a site. If they make a mistake, its their own fault.

Hi Stellarjade, I've been guilty once. Ok maybe twice. But that was when I was a week or two old in mylot. Yes, I agree it is so inappropriate. Abuse of mylot. I doubt those "new" users are really new. I think mylot should be more on thier toes to delete those nuissance threads. A PM to invite is more appropriate I should say. Goodluck and happy mylotting!!!
