Not The Same Old Question About Associated Content

When you write an article, or whatever, for Associated Content and it asks if you've published this elsewhere, what does that mean?
Let me rephrase. If I post a topic here, then turn around and write an article for AC on the same subject; technically, am I republishing?
When I post a topic here, I write it from scratch. No copy/paste. Just Backspace. When I write something for AC, it's also from scratch. The topic might be the same, it's going be relatively similar, but it won't be exactly the same. I would never intentionally plagiarize anybody, let alone myself.
I was just wondering the rule on that. Because I think if I put it here, it's published. I typed it, I'm earning money for it, you're reading it. Published. Can I now go to AC and write an article about this same thing???
Thanks to anyone who can help me understand the guidelines.
