Does Mother Earth have a Place in Christianity?

I came across a verse the other day in Romans 1:25
Romans 1:25, They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator- who is forever praised. Amen.
I found "Mother Earth" in pagan religions (such as Gaia) and Wicca.
I, for one ,believe in taking care of this Earth as much as possible and going as "green" as I can but giving the Earth a God-like personality is just wrong. Isn't it?
What are your views and opinions on "Mother Earth" and it's role in Christianity if there is one?

According to Christian Faith, mankind was given the role as Stewards of God's Creation. Man is related to God as God's creation, His masterpiece but a creation nonetheless. We are his humble creatures. However, man is not in the same level as God's other creations - like 'mother earth' as you call it. We are special because we were given the responsibility to take care all of God's other creations. We do not worship 'mother earth', we take care of it.
That is how it is supposed to be but that is not what the people described in the passage did. That is why their wrong doing was pointed out. Because they exchanged God for an idol - they worshiped the created rather than the Creator who alone is worthy of worship.

This is exactly the way I see it. We should respect our fellow man if for no other reason than because he is God's creation. If we try to worship anything other than God then we have a serious problem. I don't even believe we are supposed to "Worship" Jesus Christ the way some people do. Love and respect Him yes but worship Him no. That is for God only.

I would beg to differ my friend. I am a Christian Catholic and in our believe, Jesus IS God, and therefore worthy of the same worship that we offer God the Father.
We believe in the Trinity (Triane God), which means that there is only ONE God but THREE Persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
I believe this is actually worthy of a different discussion (yes, a discussion and not a debate c:).

I said nothing about worshiping the earth. I simply said I believed Jesus was saying we should honor Mother Earth. There is a lot of difference in Honoring and respecting something God created and worshiping it. I doubt if God approves of the way we have abused the earth He created just for man's use. We should honor and respect everything God created. That is just one of many ways we can show our respect for God Himself.

You really confuse me. "Jesus made the statement 3 times we were to honour our Father and Mother." "I believe the Father is God and the Mother is the Earth."
You accused me of calling you a pagan just because I said "Mother Earth" (also known as Mother Goddess) is worshipped by pagans. If you don't "worship" Mother Earth, how could I have been calling you a pagan.
I thought we had an agreement:)

I guess that depends on your connotation of "mother earth". A mother nurtures, feeds and cares for her children. The earth feeds and provides for us. That doesn't mean that I worship the earth or any of the inhabitants of the earth, just that I know everything works together in harmony because that's the way God created it to work.

God has said that clearly that He is a jealous God, whatever and whoever is being worshipped above Him would surely be accountable to his actions.
As a Christian we are taught to take good care of what God has created, we are being told to be responsible of of the world we live in, if not we are also the one's who will suffer its consequence. We are given the ability to do things rightfully, let us exercise it with a wise discretion to our environment, to our selves, to our children and to our fellowmen.
Good day to you blackrose and happy mylotting !

Worshiping anything/anyone other than God is wrong. (for Christianity)
Personally, earth is just my home and we should take care of our homes. It doesn't get any deeper than that for me.
