I do not know much about this site. Do any of you use Associated Content? How do you earn money. I am aware that you write and submit articles. Other than that I have no clue. Would you explain it to me, provide some advice or tips. Thank you for reading my discussion.

Like you already mentioned, you write and submit articles. For U.S residents, you have the option of requesting an upfront payment. After you submit, you wait for AC to review your articles, which can take up to more than a week. If you have asked for upfront payment, they either make an offer or reject it for upfront. Then if you are okay with the upfront payment(if any), you publsih it. After that, the article earns you a performance payment, which is earnings based on how many views your article generates.

So every article that is on Associated Content the creator was paid? Or do some list them for free? Also why should someone submit an article to AC if they can put it on their blog or website? I do know that not everyone has that option. Because earning potential is higher?

you get paid USD $1.50 per 1000 views your article generates. I don't think anyone actually displays them for free there. As for why you may not want to display it on your blog or website, mostly because, unless your blog has been around for some time, your blog's Page Rank is not likely to be as high as AC's, so it's not that likely to generate that many hits. But yes, in some cases it would be a better option.

Associated Content works pretty much the way everyone has said. However, be warned that their pay scale is substantially below freelancing standards. If you are seriously wanting to write for a living, it would be better to look around at some of your other avenues. However, if you're just looking to get your feet wet, then Associated Content might be a good place to start. Make sure you read the terms carefully though. In some cases you are selling all the rights to your writing, which means you won't be able to reprint it anywhere else (like on your blog). They have an option for a non-exclusive sale, I don't know if that affects payment, but it's something to be aware of. About.com has a good listing on Freelance Writing. You might want to check it out. Good luck with it.
