John McCain had surprised all of us by picking Sarah Palin as his VP candidate. So is it just a gimmick or perhaps the smartest political move. On one hand she has energize the republican party who were unhappy with McCain. She also has energized the woman voters who were unhappy with how Hillary Clinton was treated. But on the other hand she too doesn't have enough experience. So does risk making john McCain a hypocrite?

It appears to me she has made a lot more decisions as Governor than Obama has made in all of his senate time. Who could be more inexperienced than Obama. I think that Washington already is afraid of her. For once we have someone who is going to Washington for the right reason. What she has done for the state of Alaska, the selling of the jet the firing of te maid, shows me that she isn't there to live like a Queen off the state. She is a normal mom, she does have ups and down just like the rest of us. i dont' think it was a gimmick, I think it is the first time we might have a chance in this next election to get something done for us.

Don't forget, she also cut her own salary as mayor. When was the last time you heard of a politician giving themselves a pay CUT?

lets not forget Sarah Palin isn't exactly telling the truth. She says that she was against the bridge to nowhere but she was for it before she was against it. She also says she played a major part in stopping the bridge to nowhere but the fact is she played a very small part in it. She is also against earmarks but when she was the mayor she was for this earmarks. While i have nothing against Sarah Palin, she isn't exactly telling the truth.

"So does risk making john McCain a hypocrite?" No more a hypocrite than Obama with all of his talk about "change" while he picks a running mate who has been in Washington since Obama was eleven years old.

As has been said before, no one really knows at this stage whether picking Palin is a mistake or not. There are clear attractions in appealing to the PUMA voters and reenergizing the Republican evangelical base. There are weaknesses in that it weakens McCain's argument against Obama re experience as he has nominated someone with limited experience. Of more concern, there are investigations against her which might or might not come to anything, but if they do blow up, it sure won't help McCain.

As with all big moves, only time will tell. If Palin shows that she can handle herself well under all the scrutiny and pressure that she threw herself into, then it will be a smart move. However, if she turns into a whiner like Obama, or a crier like Hillary, it will have been a mistake.
