If it were really this easy to break into government secrets, do you think we'd have a lot more terrorist attacks? Or do you believe this book is purely fiction?
While The Da Vinci Code was written so that it didn't seem like fiction as you're reading it, Digital Fortress just always seemed fictional to me. I didn't get into it as much, but still enjoyed the story. It had a lot of interesting twists and turns but a lot of the clues I got long before the characters did. So some things were too obvious.
What did you think of Digital Fortress? What do think its implications are?

I think Dan Brown is an excellent writer and although in his book the Digital Fortress it seems like there are many places where a hacker could get into and destroy the system or learn and sell government secrets, the truth is that he is a writer. He researches his topics but do you think the government is really going to tell him all about their security forces and programs to protect the system? They cannot risk it because it is just making it easier for hackers to learn the system and we have no idea the technology they have that they are keeping a secret to protect their secrets. In the past They have kept military spy planes a secret for many years whilst they flew over us at great altitudes and spyed on Korea because if the public found out about them then Korea would know what to look for in the skies. I have no doubt in my mid that the government as an extensive array of security measures and programs and that they release what they have once they get new software. So in reality they are a step ahead of us.
