Hi,
I hope you all can help clear up a little confusion. I hear that the Playstation 3 80gig will play alot of Playstaion 2 games. However after doing some browsing on the internet, I get the feeling that there is only a certain type of Playstation 3 80gig that will play the PS2 games. Could soemone help me understand what is going on and what all I need to look for in getting a new system? Thanks and God bless, Charlie

Only 60gb and 80gb ps3s are backward compatible but sony discontinued most of them because they have launched 160gb UNCHARTED package which is also not backward compatible so i would say go for 60gb bundle if you find one otherwise 80gb one is the best choice.

To clear this up, all playstation 3 consoles that were from launch time until the latest mgs4 bundle has the backward compatibility. This is of course for the 60, and 80 gb models. Any models are made after the mgs4 bundle can not play the ps2 games and does not have backward compatibility, don't be fooled.

My PS3 plays every game I own. That includes PS1 games. It is also an 80GIG PS3.
